Bestill my beating heart because I might be in love with this drama. Not only did these episodes give us some tasty retribution, it also gave us jokes, a dancing Seo Kang Jun, and a lip touch! I guess we could call this a kiss, but it wasn’t a kiss kiss, it was definitely an accidental kiss. But wowzers, with how this “kiss” went, I can’t wait to see it when the real one happens!

Your recap of episodes 3 and 4 of “Undercover High School” are below.

“Undercover High School” Episode 3 Recap

We open with Hae Sung inspecting the bones but, thankfully, we find out that it’s only a decoy and the remains are nothing but plastic bones in an old school uniform with ballet slippers placed next to them.

One thing Hae Sung does find near the bones is a special key in the dirt. But he and Joon Hang aren’t able to chat further because the Principal’s henchman, Park Jae Moon, kicks them out.

Hae Sung relays all this information to his team, and they try to decipher what the key means. They think that the ghost stories are the key to finding the gold bars.

Hae Sung’s friend is the key to understanding the ghost stories, but unfortunately, he is still being relentlessly bullied at school, his grandmother is taken by the police for starting a gambling ring, and the bully makes teacher Soo A think that all this is Hae Sung’s fault. She even drags Hae Sung out of the library by the ear to yell at him about it.

Later on, Hae Sung goes to the security officer at the gate and tells him that he knows he is the one who threw the hammer at him in the old building. He found this out based on a footprint and asks the officer about the fake bones. The officer does not know anything and explains that he accidentally went into the building while following a cat, which led to this whole misunderstanding.

This episode, Hae Sung (and us) get to know Joon Hung and his grandmother a lot more, which makes it all the more upsetting when the grandmother is framed for operating an illegal gambling ring! The police scoop her up and everything, y’all.

Before that happens, there are some seriously cute moments of Hae Sung bonding with Joon Hung. You will just have to watch them to see them for yourself.

But back to the main story, which is the bullying. Teacher Oh Soo A catches the bully in the act of bullying Joon Hung and wants to punish him for it, but the bully’s father is too well connected, so all the advice Soo A gets is to look the other way.

But Soo A will not! She apologizes to Hae Sung about thinking he was the bully and then posts an anonymous comment on the school website about all the abuse the bully gives to Joon Hung (and she is really terrified about doing that in an amazingly adorable way?).

However, the bully just threatens Joon Hung into telling the teachers and his parents that Hae Sung is the one that bullied him. Joon Hung reluctantly does this after being threatened with his grandmother staying in prison forever. Hae Sung confronts Joon Hung about this, but instead of being upset, he is very understanding and knows that Jung Hung did this because he was threatened.

Hae Sung is about to be expelled, he just has to show up at a parent teacher meeting to see if the anonymous comment was true or not. But Hae Sung is running very late for it and asks his teacher to stall for him!

She can’t believe he asked her to do that. But it all pays off when Hae Sung shows up in front of the school on a motorcycle with someone riding with him. Everyone in the school goes wild.

Side Story

  • We get a small flashback where Teacher Oh Soo A remembers a student from her first day as a teacher. This student was wearing pink headphones, and Soo A keeps these headphones in her desk now.
  • The Buddah statue that had the arm broken off is a forgery, and it seems like the main boss wants to keep this a secret because he shreds the paperwork detailing it.
  • After school, Hae Sung’s NIS team has set up shop in a Quiznoes (because of course they would, lol). It’s perfect PPL and also pretty funny. The Quiznoess is right by the school and will come in handy plenty of times.
  • We get a flashback of Soo A remembering a little boy who pulled his peas off his rice one pea at a time, just like Hae Sung does. So that makes her like Hae Sung even more because it reminds her of that kid. Of course, that kid is probably Hae Sung!
  • Hae Sung’s cousin seems more and more like she is a servant to the school president and might have a lot of hidden stress about it.
  • At the end, we saw a flashback of Hae Sung in high school sticking up for himself at a parent teacher meeting with him and his bullies. He said he would rather drop out than apologize. His uncle agreed, which made Hae Sung very happy.

“Undercover High School” Episode 4 Recap

We pick up deliciously at the point we didn’t get to see at the end of the last episode, which is Hae Sung showing up at the gangster’s lair, beating them all up, getting evidence to save his friend, and taking the lead gangster with him.

Y’all, that scene was so fun. After that, we go right where we left off, with Hae Sung showing up at the school with a mysterious person on the back of his motorcycle (which we now know is the gangster). It seems like the entire school sees him pull up (and with the noise he was making on that motorcycle, they all at least heard him).

He pulls the gangster inside to where the parent teacher meeting is being held and shows them all his evidence. This gives Joon Hyung the confidence to stick up for himself and tell the truth of what he endures every day at the school instead of telling lies to hide what the bully does. Y’all, watching that bully crumble to dust felt so good I cannot even tell you.

There is a cute moment afterwards where Teacher Oh Soo A performs first aid on Hae Sung’s lip (because he had gotten punched) while under some cherry blossoms. He pulls a blossom from her hair, and her heart explodes, which makes her so uncomfortable that she leaves right away.

Ghost story #2 is about two friends. One of them was pretty and got first place in a major exam. It seems like she was the top student. The friend always got second. So the friend pushed the top student off the building. But the top student’s spirit comes back during late study hours at the ringing of the school clock and gets her revenge on the girl.

This story leads Hae Sung to believe that the key must go to the school’s clock, but when he checks the clock in the library, the key doesn’t work. However, his cousin tells him that the clock has a twin, which is located in the student council’s office.

Hae Sung tries to get in, but the president of the student council says no one can get in who is not in the student council. But to get into the student council, you need to score in the top 10% of the most recent exam, get 100 student signatures, and the president of the student council must agree.

The president of the student council already likes him (she bought him a gift and everything that he told her to return), so he really just has to score high on the next exam and get 100 signatures.

To help him out, the NIS team throws a big event where they dance and give away 100 sandwiches for 100 signatures. Hae Sung even dances! It works beautifully. Now Hae Sung just needs to score high on his next exam, so he studies into the night routinely to do this.

However, a wrench is thrown in the team’s way when Hae Sung has to fulfill his reserve military training during the school day. He calls in sick to do it, but teacher Oh Soo A goes above and beyond and brings him juk after school to make sure he is doing okay.

Hae Sung has to run from his place to the rooftop apartment that he technically lives in. He calls his NIS team to make sure everything is set up, but it isn’t! There isn’t even any furniture or clothes or anything there!

The team goes into high alert to beat teacher Oh Soo A to the rooftop apartment and furnish it all to boot. They are able to do it in the nick of time but aren’t able to leave the apartment and have to hide in the closet.

When teacher Oh gets there, Hae Sung does not want her to come into his house and tries to take the juk (or porridge), but it spills all over her, so she asks to use the bathroom.

This is the perfect time for the team to sneak out, but they miss their chance and have to hurry back into the closet. She asks what he is doing at the closet and picks up some stray clothes to put in there. He stops her, but in doing so, he has to pull her very close to him, which creates A MOMENT.

He gathers himself and says he can walk her out but she slips on a small ball, grabs him to keep her from falling, and they both tumble to the ground, which makes him fall on top of her — AND THEIR LIPS TOUCH!

He quickly hops off of her, but they are both beyond shocked and absolutely silent.

However, the silence is quickly broken because the closet team can’t stay bundled up much longer, and a sneeze sends one kissing another to contain the noise, which causes them all to tumble out of the closet.

If teacher Soo Ah wasn’t surprised by the kiss (she was, though), she is doubly taken aback by these three suddenly making an appearance.

It cuts to a cute flashback of her and, presumably, Hae Sung taking a photo as kids in class. In the present day, teacher Oh Soo A keeps this picture in a photo album.

Side Story

  • Joon Hyung finds out that Hae Sung works part time at the Quiznos. Product Placement for days.
  • The two bullies that used to hang out with the main bully apologized to Joon Hyung and let him hit them as hard as he wanted on the butt with what looked like a baseball bat?
  • The president of the school might be the worst kind of perfectionist mother because the daughter (president of the student council) looks terrified to be left alone with her. Her mother gives her Ritalin to take to help her stay awake to study and dotes on her daughter to get first place. This kind of love looks claustrophobically suffocating.
  • The side story with the cousin and the student council might just have hit a boiling point because she goes off on Hae Sung and yells at him to not join the student council.

Tell me the truth…is it too soon to love this show? Because all signs point to me being hopelessly devoted to it. I have not been disappointed yet and am starting to really enjoy this mystery of the scary school stories unravel. Who thinks the third scary story is coming up next week? <raises hand>
