“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” Episode 1 & 2 Recap:
- Since Do Ra was a little kid, though reluctant, had no choice but to work late at night singing in bars due to her mother’s needs. Living in a very poor household, she was always talked about at school as the poor kid with food stamps. However, Dora, always positive, tried to find meaning in life by helping her mother.
- One evening, as Dora was heading home with groceries in her hands, she encountered a handsome boy who offered to help carry them. But it wasn’t just the groceries he took from her; he also stole her heart with his charming smile and kindness. It was love at first sight for her, and she bravely asked for his phone number. However, the cool kid from Seoul refused, knowing it might be the last time they’d meet.
- As Dora’s mother, chased by debtors, could no longer hide from the neighborhood, they decided to move to Seoul. To Dora’s surprise, they ended up living in the same building as the cool kid, who turned out to be the son of the house owner living on the first floor. Dora believed it was destiny that brought them together.
- Meanwhile, Do Ra’s mother, Mi Ja, became the talk of the town due to her strange nighttime behavior. Mistaken for a late-night bartender by her neighbors, tensions rose within the household.
- Devastated to see her crush, Dae Chung, riding off with another woman, Dora confronted him, threatening to reveal his misuse of allowance money on a motorcycle and an older woman to his mother.
- Dora’s household was constantly filled with tears due to poverty, with her three siblings often left alone while Mi Ja worked.
- There seemed to be something more between Sun Yeong’s close friend, Su Yeon, and Sun Yeong’s son, Dae Chung. Dora, heartbroken, ended up telling Dae Chung’s parents about his relationship with the elderly woman. This revelation caused chaos within the family, especially when Dae Chung’s girlfriend broke up with him.
- Amidst the turmoil, Dae Chung discovered the truth about his parentage, leaving him shattered. He sought answers from his mother’s best friend, Soo Yeon, who tearfully admitted to being his biological mother after he left.
- Despite feeling guilty for the chaos, Dora was thanked by Dae Chung for giving him a reality check. He realized the unconditional love his adoptive parents had given him and expressed gratitude to Dora for causing the revelation.
- Just when things seemed to settle, Dora’s mother’s actions caused disappointment yet again, trying to steal food from Dae Chung’ grandpa’s home, who was the house owner. Eventually, she left a note and the home, leaving the children behind. However, she was intercepted by the house owner, who offered support and breakfast.
- Not only that, but it also seems that Ms. Baek and the house owner are developing feelings for each other.
“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” Episode 3 Trailer breakdown:
Dora attempts to appeal to Dae Chung by dressing more maturely, only to be seen as a neighborhood sister. Meanwhile, the relationship between the house owner and Ms. Baek develops further, drawing attention from others. Sun Young questions Ms. Baek about her intentions, and she blurts out hurtful words that later reach the house owner’s ears.
