Here are the highlights of episodes 7 & 8 of “Beauty and Mr. Romantic”.
“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” Episode 7 & 8 Recap:
- When Do Sik receives an invitation letter to his ex’s wedding, he is deeply affected and ends up getting hurt once more. He turns to alcohol, reminiscent of past experiences, and finds himself by the river where he encounters Myung Dong again. They spend the night together, repeating a pattern from the past. However, while Myung Dong’s emotions are genuine, Do Sik’s actions stem from a drunken blackout, making it merely a one-night stand for him. The next day, Do Sik’s aloofness contrasts sharply with their previous night, leaving Myung Dong heartbroken once again.
- After discovering Pil Seung’s deceitful nature, Do Ra decides to align herself with an actor she’s had a longstanding conflict to mitigate the situation. However, this decision leaves her feeling deeply betrayed and depressed. Seeking solace, she goes out alone for a drink and coincidentally runs into Jin Dan, who harbors a secret crush on her. Moreover, he happens to be the investor of the drama in which she currently stars as the main lead. As they share a few drinks, Do Ra becomes increasingly intoxicated, prompting Jin Dan to escort her home.
- Meanwhile, Pil Seung, unable to sleep due to his guilt over hurting Do Ra, hastily makes his way to her residence to offer a heartfelt apology in person. However, upon arriving, he witnesses Jin Dan assisting the intoxicated Do Ra. Though slightly concerned, Pil Seung refrains from intervening and quietly departs without delivering his apology.
- Upon learning that Pil Seung is collaborating with Do Ra, who happens to be the daughter of Mi Ja, the woman responsible for the incident leading to her father’s death, Sun Young is consumed by rage. Yet, Pil Seung manages to calm her by explaining that Do Ra is oblivious to their shared past when Pil Seung went by the name Dae Chung and that they lived under the same roof. Reluctantly, Sun Young releases her anger and advises Pil Seung to keep their shared secret until circumstances reveal it naturally.
- Pil Seung finds himself in a difficult situation as tension escalates among the actors on set. The main leads refuse to film their scenes due to their intense animosity towards each other. Despite his efforts to mend things with Do Ra, Pil Seung faces resistance; she is deeply wounded and confides that she hasn’t had a friend for 15 years due to her circumstances. To have the only person she was starting to trust betray her feels like a profound betrayal. With his job as assistant director on the line, Pil Seung realizes he has no choice. He must approach Do Ra and reveal his true identity as her childhood friend, Dae Chung.
- Suddenly, Do Ra is gripped by a mix of conflicting emotions towards him. On one hand, he’s the one who betrayed her trust, but on the other, he turns out to be her first crush. Despite feeling this ambivalence, she swiftly sets aside her negative emotions and begins inquiring about his family and well-being. Pil Seung realizes that Do Ra is oblivious to the fact that her mother’s actions led to his grandfather’s passing.
- Frustrated by her mounting gambling debts, Do Ra’s mother, Mi Ja, seizes upon a new motive upon learning of Jin Dan’s feelings for her daughter. Now, she sees an opportunity to assist him in pursuing Do Ra.
- Jin Taek, from a prestigious conglomerate family, is married to Soo Yeon, and together they have a beloved daughter named Ma Ri, who has a developmental disorder and functions at the level of a 12-year-old. However, the household is fraught with tension. The family faces a dilemma: a male heir is required to lead the company, yet they lack a son. Despite Jin Taek’s father having a son, Jin Dan, with a mistress, the family insists on a true-blooded heir. Jin Taek’s aunt continuously pressures him and his wife, Soo Yeon, to conceive a male child, which becomes unbearable for Soo Yeon. Matters worsen when the aunt discovers that Soo Yeon had been pregnant during her college years, long before her marriage.
- With their relationship on solid ground, Do Ra excels in her role as an actress. During a shoot on a deserted island, fate seems to intervene, leaving only Do Ra and Pil Seung behind as the rest of the crew departs on the last boat. As they spend the night together, reminiscing about their childhood, they grow closer than ever before. Do Ra finds herself feeling incredibly safe in Pil Seung’s presence, and perhaps even more feelings beyond mere friendship.
