“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” which aired its first episode on the 23rd KST, hit 17.2% in viewership ratings, thanks to a fast-paced storyline and a big revelation of the family secret.
In the second episode, Go Dae Chung (Moon Sung Hyun) was caught dating Yeon Sang Jung (Lee Miran). When his family opposed it because she was much older in age, Go Dae Chung stubbornly insisted, “I won’t even go to school and just live my life as I please.”
In response, Geum Ja (Im Ye Jin) revealed Go Dae Chung’s birth secret, saying, “You’re causing trouble without even knowing what everyone has done for you all this time”.
Shocked, Go Dae Chung left home. Later, he asked his parents, Kim Seon Young (Yoon Yoo Sun) and Go Hyeon Cheol (Lee Du Il), and his mom’s close friend Jang Su Yeon (Lee Il Hwa) about his biological mother, but no one knew. But later on in the episode, viewers find out that Su Yeon is Dae Chung’s biological mother.
Park Do Ra (Lee Seol Ah), who had teased Go Dae Chung about his girlfriend, confessed her feelings to him instead. In response, Go Dae Chung sarcastically remarked, “You are just a kid next door”.
At the same time, Park Do Ra’s mother, Baek Mi Ja (Cha Hwa Yeon), hearing rumors that Kim Seon Young’s father (Park Geun Hyung) was wealthy, tried to win his heart. Soon after, loan sharks descended on Baek Mi Ja’s house, plunging her into crisis.
