If you’re an avid K-Drama fan who has watched a lot of genres, I’m sure you have noticed this by now! There’s something about non-romance K-Drama couples and their fantastic chemistry despite having little to no romance in the drama!

I think that non-romance couples, especially from mystery/thriller K-Dramas, are those that have the best chemistry. Just by looking at them, you can sense the tension and undeniable chemistry, and that excites me!

Meet The Couples

“Big Mouth” Couple

Chang Ho and Mi Ho, the married couple from “Big Mouth,” are the couple I’m most invested in right now. This is a noir thriller about a third-rate lawyer accused of murder and his wife’s efforts to clear his name. You can’t deny Lee Jong Suk and Yoona’s chemistry, despite the fact that they get very little screen time together and much of it is in flashbacks.

365: Repeat The Year” Duo

If you’re looking for a mystery/thriller duo who you can clearly tell have feelings for each other, go no further than this one. Sci-fi thriller “365: Repeat the Year,” tells the story of a group of people who traveled back in time one year ago to rewrite their futures.

It’s the kind of drama that doesn’t need romance. Still, we can’t help but feel excited whenever Nam Ji Hyun and Lee Joon Hyuk’s characters are on screen together because of their undeniable chemistry!

Kairos” Couples

This kind of sci-fi thriller drama, “Kairos,” is one where practically every pairing has tremendous chemistry. It’s hard to pick a favorite because even Ahn Bo Hyun and Nam Gyu Ri’s prohibited ship (see the show to find out why it’s forbidden) have chemistry, but Lee See Young and WINNER Kang Seung Yoon’s is my favorite.

The drama is about a man from the future who contacted a woman from the past to help stop his misfortune, and they can only call or receive texts at exactly 10:33 PM! What I love most about the two is how their relationship went from being friends to Geun Wook doing his best to help her and Ae Ri realizing her feelings for him!

“Vincenzo” Couple

Because it’s a dark comedy and crime K-Drama, this is the couple everyone didn’t expect to adore so much! One of my favorite 2021 pairings is Chazenzo, whose chemistry is second to none! The only place you can witness an associate and a mafia lawyer working together to get revenge, reclaim the gold hidden beneath the building, and have mad chemistry is on this drama!

Taxi Driver” Duos

This is a drama that has no romance at all, but since it’s Lee Je Hoon and Esom, you will definitely feel the tension and chemistry between the prosecutor and taxi driver who’s taking revenge! They also don’t have a lot of scenes together, but when they do, you’ll love it!

There’s also another Lee Je Hoon ship in this drama that I love so much, and it’s with Pyo Ye Jin, the skilled hacker who’s working together with Je Hoon’s character. The two shared a lot of memories and experiences that’s why you’ll feel attached to their characters.

The Ghost Detective” Duo

This drama is far from a romance drama but just seeing Park Eun Bin and Choi Daniel together produces a different kind of chemistry! Really enjoyed this drama because of its unique plot: a ghost teaming up with an assistant detective who is looking for a mysterious lady who she believes killed her sister!

“Happiness” Couple

When I watched this apocalyptic thriller with zombies, I didn’t expect to meet such a comfortable couple. The two have the best trope: fake dating, friends to lovers, and cohabitation, so how can you not fall in love with this married couple who’s willing to do anything for each other?

Sell Your Haunted House” Couple

My favorite thing about this fantasy drama is the tense relationship between Jang Nara and Jung Yong Hwa. The unique bond between an exorcist and con artist who profits from the supernatural. Another unlikely pairing that has fiery chemistry despite the fact that there’s no romance between the two!

The Veil” Duo

The chemistry between Namgoong Min and Kim Ji Eun in the spy thriller “The Veil” was undeniable! I’m amazed by these NIS agents as they investigated the disappearance of Han Ji Hyuk a year ago! P.S. We expect to see more from these two because they will lead the upcoming SBS drama “One Thousand Won Lawyer!”

“Law School” Duo

Everyone who watched “Law School” will agree that despite no romance at all, Kim Bum and Ryu Hye Young have breathtaking chemistry! You can see Joon Hwi’s love for Seol Ah even though the two only portrayed law school classmates, and they look fantastic together!

The Penthouse” Couples

As a makjang, “The Penthouse” still has a lot of shippable pairs! First and foremost, the high school romance between Seok Hoon and Ro Na makes our hearts flutter! Oh Yoon Hee and Ha Yoon Chul provided us with a new kind of married couple chemistry, while Logan Lee and Shim Su Ryeon are everyone’s favorite.

So now, do you also agree that non-romantic K-Drama couples really give off a different kind of chemistry that will make us crave for their romance even more? Let’s all catch these K-Dramas on KOCOWA!
