“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” Episode 17 & 18 Recap:

• Ji Young (Do Ra) gets a lift from Pil Seung after work. They had a little bit of an altercation due to Ji Young (Do Ra) making a mistake at work. However, Pil Seung forgives her and still takes her home. Coincidentally, they live in the same neighborhood. When Pil Seung drops her off, Ji Young (Do Ra) encounters a pervert who tries to coerce her into going to a secluded area. Pil Seung saves her and even suggests that she move to a better neighborhood. He then introduces his house with one vacant room. Ji Young (Do Ra) accepts his offer and moves in.
• Ji Young (Do Ra) diligently works under Pil Seung, both unaware of each other’s true identities. Ji Young (Do Ra) has lost her memories and remains unaware of her past. One day, while in the office, she happens upon a script and finds its contents strangely familiar, though she can’t discern why. Pil Seung catches Ji Young (Do Ra) reading aloud, and for a moment, he glimpses Do Ra within her.
• Pil Seung’s family gradually becomes accustomed to having Ji Young (Do Ra) as a new tenant in their house, but for some reason, Geum Ja finds her familiar. She has a sense of déjà vu upon seeing her as if she has encountered her somewhere before.
• Se Ra, the current top star in romantic comedy dramas, confesses her feelings to Pil Seung. (Do you guys recognize her from somewhere?)
• Ma Ri, who is desperately in need of finding a partner to take over her father’s company, is searching for her destined match. She once encountered a generous guy at the metro station and has been searching for him ever since. However, tracking him down seems nearly impossible. Yet, when she is introduced to Pil Seung, the son of Sun Young, a close friend of her mother’s, Ma Ri recognizes him as the guy from the metro station! Su Yeon is startled to learn that her daughter has a crush on her secret son.
• Pil Seung finds it strange how Ji Young and Do Ra seem to overlap constantly, yet Ji Young insists it’s her first time in Seoul. Despite Ji Young’s insistence, Pil Seung can’t shake the lingering thoughts and feelings surrounding the situation.
• Mi Ja refuses to let go of her spending habits even when the family is at rock bottom following Do Ra’s death. The family falls apart, but Do Shik remains by Mi Ja’s side, taking care of her, while Do Jun decides to leave the family and live on his own. Do Shik is overwhelmed with grief and resentment, realizing that the entire family took advantage of Do Ra and her reputation, and now, in her absence, they suddenly appreciate her more.
• Pil Seung struggles to move on from Do Ra and continuously hallucinates about her, often mistaking Ji Young for her. His confusion deepens when Ji Young confesses to him that she dreamed about living in the same place when she was little. Pil Seung finds himself increasingly perplexed by the situation.
• While working diligently with Pil Seung, Ji Young gets into an accident, and Pil Seung rushes her to the hospital. Though she is physically fine, she appears to be in a deep sleep. Unable to resist his curiosity any longer, he checks Ji Young’s foot, wondering if she has the same tattoo that Do Ra had when they were together. To his surprise, he finds the exact same tattoo on Ji Young’s foot as Do Ra’s, leaving him even more confused.
• After discovering that her one and only crush is the son of her mother’s friend, Ma Ri pleads with her mother to allow her to marry him. Ma Ri goes so far as to intrude into Sun Young’s home to befriend Pil Seung’s family. Soo Yeon appears to be overly sensitive to Ma Ri’s actions, surprising everyone else in the family.
• Unable to suppress his curiosity about the possibility of Ji Young being Do Ra, Pil Seung travels to Ji Young’s hometown to investigate her past. Through his inquiries, Pil Seung discovers that Ji Young was found by her grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease. Initially, Pil Seung considers whether the grandmother’s condition might have led to a mistaken identity, but she remains steadfast in her belief. However, Pil Seung learns a different perspective when he speaks to a neighbor. According to the neighbor, the Ji Young from the past bore no resemblance to the Ji Young of today, neither in appearance nor personality. In fact, the entire neighborhood believed that the Alzheimer ‘s-afflicted grandmother had mistaken a stranger for her granddaughter, Ji Young. This confusion arose because the person the grandmother identified as Ji Young had lost her memories in the past, making it impossible to ascertain the truth.
• To confirm his suspicions, Pil Seung obtains Ji Young’s toothbrush and Mi Ja’s DNA sample to compare. After a few days, the genetic center informs Pil Seung that Mi Ja and Ji Young are a 99.99% match, confirming that Ji Young is indeed Do Ra, the person he had longed for. Overwhelmed with emotion, Pil Seung immediately calls Ji Young and cries tears of happiness. He regrets all the hurtful words he said to Do Ra in the past and his inability to trust her.
• Now that Pil Seung knows Ji Young is Do Ra and is living upstairs in his home, he showers her with fruits and food, displaying a newfound generosity towards her. He changes his demeanor towards Ji Young, driving her to work and being exceptionally kind to her. During their daily car rides, Pil Seung takes the opportunity to get to know Ji Young better by asking about her favorite foods. However, when she responds, he seems to already know the answer, leaving Ji Young feeling puzzled.

“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” Episode 19 Trailer breakdown:

Ji Young is perplexed by Pil Seung’s behavior, as he showers her with gifts reminiscent of those Do Ra used to enjoy. She finds this unsettling, fearing she may develop feelings for him.

Pil Seung is adamant about keeping Ji Young from uncovering her old memories, believing it’s best to keep them hidden for as long as possible.

During an encounter with Jin Dan, Ji Young accidentally spills coffee on his fancy suit. To her surprise, Jin Dan appears to recognize her.
