“Beauty and Mr. Romantic” Episode 19 & 20 Recap:

• Pil Seung and Ji Young begin carpooling because they reside in the same house. As they share rides, their bond deepens. When Ji Young saves Pil Seung’s life, he expresses his gratitude by treating her to a fancy restaurant. Now aware of Ji Young’s identity, Pil Seung questions whether she has ever desired to uncover her past. Though Ji Young expresses her curiosity, Pil Seung suggests that perhaps she shouldn’t delve into it, implying that a life without her past might bring her greater happiness.

• Ji Young finds it peculiar that Pil Seung is treating her with such kindness, indulging her with good food and showering her with attention. She cautions him that his behavior can breed false hope. Pil Seung disagrees, asserting that his actions stem from genuine kindness and gratitude for her saving his life.

• Jin Dan and Ji Young have an unusual encounter when Ji Young accidentally spills coffee on Jin Dan’s expensive white suit. Strangely, Jin Dan appears to recognize Ji Young.

• Pil Seung comes to the realization that true love involves honoring Ji Young’s desires. Regretting his suggestion that she should not delve into her past, he decides to make amends. Summoning her, he recreates fond memories they shared of riding bicycles together in the park, even helping her ride one again. Pil Seung goes further by arranging a camping trip and singing and playing guitar for her. However, Ji Young reaches her limit and urges Pil Seung to cease his gestures and simply ask her out. Ji Young is deeply disappointed and advises Pil Seung not to show kindness unless he harbors romantic feelings, as she wishes to avoid false hope. Ironically, her feelings for him only intensify as a result.
• In their next encounter, Ji Young offers profound apologies to Jin Dan for staining his expensive suit. Jin Dan responds by questioning the sincerity of her remorse and suggests that perhaps she should make it up to him by treating him to dinner.

• Jin Taek, aware of his daughter’s deep crush on Pil Seung, takes the initiative to meet with Sun Young’s family to address the situation. Delicately approaching the sensitive topic, he expresses his long-standing admiration for Pil Seung and emphasizes that despite Ma Ri being different, she possesses a gentle and kind-hearted nature. Upon hearing this, Soo Yeon becomes furious. Confused by her reaction, Jin Taek fails to comprehend why his words have triggered such a strong response, assuming that she would also want what’s best for Ma Ri.

• Jin Dan and Ji Young share a dinner outing where Jin Dan finds Ji Young’s quirkiness and charm refreshing, very different from the personalities he’s met before. Meanwhile, Pil Seung grows concerned when Ji Young doesn’t return home promptly and opts to wait for her outside. His anger flares when he spots Ji Young stepping out of Jin Dan’s car, and he confronts her, demanding that she cease all contact with Jin Dan. Irritated by Pil Seung’s attempt to dictate her social circle, Ji Young rejects his advice.

• Ji Young is puzzled by Pil Seung’s contradictory behavior, showing signs of affection while denying any romantic interest. She confronts him, urging him to be honest about his feelings, assuring him that she’s prepared to accept any reasons why he can’t reciprocate her romantic feelings. Additionally, she admits her own feelings for him. However, Pil Seung remains steadfast in his denial, asking her to stop misinterpreting his actions. Disheartened, Ji Young expresses her disappointment and leaves, vowing never to misinterpret his words or actions again.

• Ji Young often finds herself haunted by unsettling memories from her past, leading to periods of distress as she grapples with these unfamiliar emotions and recollections. Reflecting on Pil Seung’s efforts to dissuade her from delving into her memories, Ji Young now understands his intentions.
• Geum Ja and Sun Young, residents of the neighborhood, overhear rumors suggesting that Pil Seung and Ji Young are involved romantically. Shocked by this revelation, they hold Pil Seung in high regard, especially considering that the wealthy Jin Taek family had recently approached them regarding Pil Seung’s potential as a son-in-law. Geum Ja and Sun Young are annoyed by the gossip surrounding Pil Seung’s relationship with Ji Young, particularly because of Ji Young’s status as a tenant and her rural background.
• After sharing several dinners with Ji Young, Jin Dan finds himself unable to shake thoughts of Do Ra whenever he’s with her. Observing Ji Young, he’s reminded of Do Ra, and vice versa. These recurring associations make Jin Dan realize that he’s developing feelings for Ji Young.
• Pil Seung resolves to end his indecision and finally confess his feelings to Ji Young. He even prepares flowers for the occasion, fully expecting her to accept him. However, his hopes are dashed when Ji Young unexpectedly rejects him, expressing that she has lost all trust in him. Devastated by her response, Pil Seung watches as Ji Young hurries home.

• Admittedly enjoying his time with Ji Young, Jin Dan takes her shopping and treats her to a makeover, hoping that a more sophisticated appearance will evoke memories of Do Ra, someone he once obsessed over. Encouraged by the transformation, Jin Dan takes a bold step and asks Ji Young out. However, their interaction doesn’t go unnoticed, as Pil Seung happens to witness the scene unfold.

Desperate to prove himself, Pil Seung pleads with Ji Young for a chance to go on a date, suggesting that she can then determine where her heart truly lies.
