What did you guys all think of the last two episodes? I felt really bad for Soo Jung who had to go through a very uncomfortable confrontation. Let’s highlight the key recap points from episodes 29 and 30 of “It’s Beautiful Now”.
“It’s Beautiful Now” Episodes 29 & 30 Recap:
- Not the Best First Encounter
When Yoon Jae takes Hae Joon to introduce her to the family, Kyung Ae couldn’t hide her expression when she first encountered her. Kyung Ae recognizes her from when she visited her son’s office, and Hae Joon didn’t really leave a good first impression. Kyung Ae is also shocked that her oldest son is going out with an older woman. (It is not as serious as it was before, but in Korea, if a woman is older than the man when in a relationship, it doesn’t really leave a positive impression to the elders). On top of that, when Hae Joon was trying to help Kyung Ae with the food, Hae Joon accidentally dropped one of the side dishes that Kyung Ae cooked… It is not the very best first encounter between them…
- All Four Are Happy With Their Relationship
Now that all four people are happy and very stable in their relationships, they frequently meet and go on double dates to dinner. When they were having dinner one day, Hae Joon tells Hyun Jae and Mi Rae that they look alike. (From the previous episodes, that topic constantly has been brought up. Why do people keep saying that they look alike? What can we infer from this? I know from a K-Drama fan’s POV, that this must mean something). Hyun Jae and Mi Rae think of this as a good thing. There is a saying in Korea that if you are deeply in love, you resemble one another, so to them this is a compliment.
- Jin Ju Asks a Serious Question
Jin Ju cannot let go of the fact that when she visited the hospital to see Soo Jung’s mother, Soo Jung’s mother said that “we have to keep Soo Jung and not take her to the Police station.” Jin Ju is aware that Soo Jung’s mother suffers from Alzheimer’s, and it is usual that people with Alzheimer’s can say things out of the ordinary, but she still thinks that what she said must not be made up from nothing. Jin Ju discreetly states what Soo Jung’s mother said verbatim and asks if Soo Jung was an adopted child. Soo Jung is flustered…
- Mi Rae Meets Kyung Ae
Hyun Jae introduces Mi Rae to Kyung Ae and Min Ho for the first time. Kyung Ae seems to like her better than Hae Joon. The four of them have a casual conversation at the dinner table, getting to know each other little by little. Kyung Ae seems to be a little nervous for some reason, and ends up spilling water all over the table.
- Hae Joon Introduces Yoon Jae to Her Brother
Hae Joon arranges a lunch plan so she can introduce Yoon Jae to her brother. Her brother and his wife ask a bit of an uncomfortable question to Hae Joon, such as, is he someone you can trust entirely? Sounds too good to be true that he is 40, a dentist, and single. When Hae Joon asks to go to the bathroom, she accidentally hears her sister-in-law on the phone talking about how she cannot understand why Hae Joon insists on getting married at such an old age and that it is too late for her to have a child. Hae Joon starts having second thoughts about this whole marriage thing.. When Yoon Jae finally arrives, he is in the hot seat.
After having a long, uncomfortable conversation, they head to the parking lot, and Hae Joon’s brother and his wife think it’s strange that Yoon Jae does not even have his own vehicle. Hae Joon has had enough and tells her brother to follow her somewhere where they can have a private conversation. Hae Joon expresses her dissatisfaction with how they have treated Yoon Jae and that she is in disbelief that her brother and sister-in-law think that her getting married is a bit over the top.
- Yu Na and Jung Hoo go on a Date
Jung Hoo started baking as a hobby with the help of Yu Na, who also loves to bake. When they both go shopping for some tools needed for baking, they realize how each other’s tendencies are really different. The scene switches to Soo Jae visiting his close friend’s macaron shop, where he gives a present to celebrate the shop opening. His friend then tells him that his gift is super similar to what Yu Na has given her, inferring that Yu Na and Soo Jae have similar tastes, unlike Yu Na and Jung Hoo. Yu Na and Soo Jae still cannot get over the breakup.
- Hae Joon Face Unexpected Problem
Her brother visits her office to tell her that he was sorry for being too harsh on Yoon Jae the other day. He offers any help that she needs in the process of getting married, and he finds out that Yoon Jae doesn’t even have a home to live in. Hae Joon’s brother was disappointed that Yoon Jae doesn’t even have his own place to live in on top of not having his own vehicle. Hae Joon was furious that her brother was being a prick and talking down to Yoon Jae, so she told him to leave. However, her brother tells her if he leaves like this, she won’t have anyone at her wedding. (Both of her parents passed away). Hae Joon confides to Hyun Jae and says how much of a disappointment she is to her brother.
- Yu Na Passes the Exam!
Yu Na finally passes the baking exam! She is super excited and shares this news with her boss, Jung Hoo. She also gets an offer to work at her friend’s macaron shop. Yu Na cannot hide this excitement and calls her mom right away. From what we have seen, I thought Yu Na’s mother would be nonchalant about this news, but I was wrong! Her mother was excited as well and told Yu Na to come and visit her.
- Jin Ju Visits the Hospital to See Soo Jung’s Mother
Jin Ju visits Soo Jung’s mother to check up on her. Soo Jung’s mom didn’t recognize Jin Ju at first due to her illness, but later on recognizes her and says something that really shocks Jin Ju. Jin Ju takes out her phone to record what she says to leave as proof. Soo Jung’s mom tells her that she cannot conceive a baby, biologically. Jin Ju then goes to her mother and reveals this truth. Jin Ju summons everyone in the family and asks Soo Jung for the truth, she even turns on the recording of Soo Jung’s mother. Reluctantly, Soo Jung had to tell her the truth that she is not her biological daughter.

Jung Ja is furious about the fact that she was deceived this whole time. She believed that Soo Jung came from a good family, but now that the truth is out, Jung Ja is super shocked.
Soo Jung questions Jin Ju’s motives for all of this and thinks it is because she wants to take the building that Jung Ja was supposed to give to Soo Jung.
Kyung Ae finds out that Soo Jae works as a bathroom cleaner of the restaurant that Yu Na works in.
Hae Joon’s family and Yoon Jae’s family all meet before the wedding, which Yoon Jae didn’t show up to.
Mi Rae tells Hyun Jae that she is worried about her mother, Soo Jung who was bothered to know that Hyun Jae’s father is an adoptee.
