“Our Golden Days” Episodes 1 & 2 Recap:
- Ji Hyuk (Jung Il Woo) is the definition of a go-getter, juggling work and a long list of hobbies — cycling being one of his favorites. On a sunny day, he joins his riding crew, with his girlfriend tagging along for what was supposed to be a perfect outing. But when an urgent work call demands his immediate return to the office, things take a sharp turn. His girlfriend, visibly upset, reveals she had planned a luxurious 300th-day anniversary celebration with hotel reservations and fine dining. Ji Hyuk, however, stands firm and chooses work over romance leaving her heartbroken.
- Meanwhile, Eun Oh (Jung In Sun) is equally dedicated to her career as an interior designer, unafraid to stand her ground against difficult clients. Every detail of her work matters to her, and she dreams of opening her own hanok-style studio once she’s saved enough. She’s held a quiet torch for Ji Hyuk since their university days, much to her friends’ disbelief, especially since they fear she’ll lose her chance if she doesn’t act soon. But Eun Oh is convinced Ji Hyuk is staunchly anti-marriage and perfectly content staying single.
- Ji Hyuk’s home life is lively, with three generations under one roof. But while his parents continue to pressure him to marry, he’s more determined than ever to stay unattached.
- One day, Eun Oh makes a work purchase through a direct seller, only to open the box and find… bricks. Furious, she chases the scammer down the street. At a nearby traffic light, Ji Hyuk spots her running and immediately joins the chase, helping her catch the culprit.
- The two later reunite for a charity project designing interiors, finding joy and pride in their work despite the lack of profit. Around the same time, Ji Hyuk’s father resigns from the company he served for decades, prompting the family to decorate their home in celebration, only for his future plans to collapse when a promised advisory position falls through after a sudden leadership change at the company.
- Meanwhile, Seong Jae (Yoon Hyun Min), who runs his father’s company, lives with his parents and younger sister. While his mother is warm and affectionate, he appears strangely distant from her. That same mother is revealed to be secretly following and photographing Eun Oh.
- Seong Jae and Eun Oh have their own history, a promise that he’d tell her the moment Ji Hyuk became single. When that day comes, Seong Jae rushes to deliver the news she’s long wanted to hear.
- Gathering her courage, Eun Oh finally confesses her feelings to Ji Hyuk. But instead of the easygoing acceptance he’s shown to other women in the past, Ji Hyuk turns her down coldly, saying she “doesn’t suit him.” Shocked and heartbroken, Eun Oh breaks down, unable to understand why.
