Meet Lee Jong Won, the web drama king! Following his debut a few years ago, he has made quite a name for himself. You may know him best from “In Your Dream,” “XX” and “Farming Academy Season 2,” which are available to stream right here on KOCOWA+. He played leading roles in “XX” and “In Your Dream,” and his delightful characters are as different as night and day. He portrays the bold and loyal best friend of bartender Na Na (Hani) in “XX”, while in “In Your Dream,” he is a shy and lovestruck barista. Make sure to watch the K-dramas featuring him in a lead role so you can truly see his natural talent!
He has recently appeared as a guest in “Home Alone” and showed his optimistic side when doing anything and showed his outdoor hobby as a photographer.
The team here at KOCOWA+ had so much fun learning more about Lee Jong Won’s talent, hobbies, and insider knowledge about the trendy drama, “XX”.
Q. What were your favorite scenes from “XX?”
A. Jung Deun is a playful guy, but there are scenes in the drama where he sincerely cares for Nana, his best friend. From many memorable scenes, I remember the one where I talked about Nana’s embarrassing situation. She worked with her ex-boyfriend while eating chicken feet in episode 9. We were exchanging lines back and forth, and it felt like we were just having a sincere conversation between close friends. Especially in that scene, I lived and fully embodied Jung Deun.
Q. “XX” is a story that takes place in a bar. Do you have any favorite alcohol or non-alcoholic drinks? And what is your least favorite drink?
A. I like wine or whiskey which are slow to savor and rich in grain and fruit. On the other hand, clear spirits like soju, gin, and vodka are mostly hard to drink because they have a strong alcoholic scent.
Q. What did you especially like about filming “XX?” And what do you personally think of this drama?
A. It’s a drama that takes place in a bar, which only those in the know can find and get into. The genre of this drama can’t be found easily in web dramas. Since it is a novel and unique subject, you can feel a different charm to the story. I think everyone will enjoy it and won’t be surprised if they lose track of time 🙂
Q. What do you do in your free time?
A. I spend my time taking pictures of my daily life. I like to take pictures, especially in black and white. I think black and white films are attractive because you can imagine the colors behind the picture. I also have a darkroom at home and enjoy developing and printing my photos. I really enjoy each step of the creative process.
Q. Which Korean dramas or entertainment programs do you enjoy watching?
A. One of my favorite programs these days is called ‘You Quiz on the Block.’ National MC Yoo Jae Seok and comedian Cho Se Ho travel around the country to quiz ordinary citizens for a chance to win money. I enjoy watching every episode because I can relate to the people who are on this show.
Q. Is there a role you want to play in the future?
A. I want to show people that the actor Lee Jong Won is up for the challenge of acting in various genres without any limitations. If I have to choose one, I want my next role to be in a romance-focused drama that deals with sweet and heartbreaking love that anyone can relate to.
