MBC’s new Friday-Saturday drama “Undercover High School” starring Seo Kang Jun and Jin Ki Joo is set to premiere its first episode on February 21.
The series is about a National Intelligence Service (NIS) agent who disguises himself as a high school student to track down the whereabouts of Emperor Gojong’s missing gold.

The drama humorously depicts his chaotic adventures as a “repeat high schooler.” Seo Kang Jun takes on the role of Jeong Hae Seong, the ace agent of the NIS’s Domestic Team 4. Tasked with the mission to find Emperor Gojong’s gold, Hae Seong is assigned to the Undercover High School operation, forcing him into an unexpected high school life. As the ace of the NIS, Hae Seong remains calm and composed in any situation, with a meticulous and strategic personality.
Expectations are high as Seo Kang Jun flawlessly brings Jeong Hae Seong to life, both in appearance and depth, promising to captivate viewers. Ahead of the premiere, Seo Kang Jun shared his thoughts on choosing the drama, saying, “I found it appealing because it combines multiple genres, including comedy, action, human drama, and crime. Beneath its lighthearted humor, the show carries a unique message, which made me think it was a great project.”
How was His Experience with Jin Ki Joo?
Seo Kang Jun shared his process of preparing for the role of Jeong Hae Seong, a character who appears warm and passionate on the surface but hides deep loneliness. To portray the action scenes as an NIS agent, he trained at an action school and spent considerable time delving into Hae Seong’s personality and emotions, focusing on how to express his complex narrative.

He also spoke about his chemistry with the cast, highlighting Jin Ki Joo’s unique charm and honesty in acting, which made their collaboration enjoyable. He added that working with the young actors playing the students was inspiring, as they showed great passion and dedication.
Reflecting on his return after military service, he expressed excitement, saying, “Undercover High School is a drama you can enjoy with plenty of laughs, but it also carries moments of emotion and resonance. Please look forward to it.”
