There’s one thing I love about K-dramas even more than the fact that they have great storylines, stars, and everything else. AND It’s the iconic cameo and special appearances!
One of the joys in watching K-dramas is that moment when your favorite actor and actresses have a cameo or special appearance on the dramas you are currently watching! There are a lot, so I’ll list some of my favorites!
Lee Jong Suk in “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo“
This is one of the most iconic cameos ever. Years have passed, but I vividly recall my surprise at first sighting Lee Jong Suk in the role of a handsome customer in “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo.” He went to support his good friend, Lee Sung Kyoung!
Lee Seong Kyung and Yoon Kyung Sang in “While You Were Sleeping”
After Lee Jong Suk’s cameo appearance, Lee Sung Kyoung wanted to return the favor! Together with her “Doctors” co-star, they went to appear as a couple in Lee Jong Suk and Bae Suzy’s “While You Were Sleeping!”
Park Seo Joon in “Be With You“
This is one of the special appearances that shocked me. I mean, “Be With You” is already a fantastic film, and to find out that Park Seo Joon appeared as the son of So Ji Sub and Son Ye Jin’s characters make it even better!
“Extra-ordinary You” x “True Beauty” Crossover
One of my favorite crossovers is this one since the casts of “Extra-ordinary You” appeared in “True Beauty” not once but five times! Kim Hye Yoon, Lee Jae Wook, Kim Young Dae, Jung Gun Joo, and Lee Tae Ri all made cameo appearances because the two dramas share the same director.
Moon Ga Young’s character fell for Lee Tae Ri’s nutritionist character; Jung Gun Joo’s character is a baseball star who likes Moon Ga Young’s character; Kim Young Dae’s character is a stranger who Moon Ga Young’s character mistook for Eunwoo’s character!
I really enjoyed seeing Lee Jae Wook and Kim Hye Yoon return to their roles as the original characters in “Extra-ordinary You.” It’s really a fun crossover for people who enjoyed this drama as much as I did!
Yang Se Jong in “Dr. Romantic 2“
It’s nice to have Yang Se Jong, who played the best boy Do In Beom in the first season of the “Dr. Romantic” franchise, back at his home in the Doldam Hospital for the sequel.
Rowoon and Kim Seon Ho in “Find Me in Your Memory“
Rowoon and Kim Seon Ho appeared in the first episode of “Find Me In Your Memory!” Rowoon appeared as a member of a top idol group member meanwhile, Kim Seon Ho appeared as a top actor! Both characters were involved in a dating scandal with Moon Ga Young’s character, who is an actress!
Choi Woo Shik in “Fight For My Way“
To show his support for his best friend Park Seo Joon, Choi Woo Shik appeared in “Fight For My Way” as Dong Man’s (Park Seo Joon) high school buddy turned doctor who falls for Ae Ra (Kim Ji Won!) There was a sweet love triangle between the three of them.
Lee Sung Kyoung in “Once Again“
Because I watched “Once Again” after it had already finished airing all of the episodes, this is one of the appearances that caught me by surprise. Lee Sung Kyung appeared as Jae Seok’s (Lee Sang Yi) ex-girlfriend! I really loved this cameo because it shows that Jae Seok is one of the best boyfriends.
Lee Je Hoon in “Stove League“
I really love Lee Je Hoon’s story of appearing in Namkoong Min and Park Eun Bin’s “Stove League!” After expressing his enthusiasm for the show on Instagram, Lee Je Hoon was cast in a cameo role for the series finale.
“Hotel Del Luna” Cameos
Everybody still hasn’t gotten over “Moon Lovers,” but this cameo helped mend our hearts. It was great to finally see Lee Joon Gi and IU in the same scene together in “Hotel Del Luna,” when he made a brief appearance as one of the potential managers.
In addition, IU’s best friend and co-star from “THE Producers,” Kim Soo Hyun, makes a surprise appearance in the final episode.
Lee Sang Woo in “The Penthouse 2“
There are many cameos in “The Penthouse,” but this is one of my favorites. It is when the real-life husband of Kim So Yeon (The lead actress in the drama) had a cameo appearance as a reporter!
Kim Sung Cheol in “Vincenzo”
One of the first things that popped into my head when thinking about “iconic cameos” was this special appearance. As Shinkwang Bank’s CEO, Kim Sung Cheol made quite an impression in “Vincenzo.”
“THE Producer” Cameos
This drama has one of the most iconic cameos ever in a K-drama! From K-pop idols, actors and entertainers are all present in this sitcom-like drama. Taeyeon, Tiffany, and Seohyun of SNSD, Nichkhun of 2PM, Jackson Wang of GOT7, and Jisoo of BLACKPINK all made an appearance.
Youn Yuh Jung, Park Bo Gum, Go Ara, Jang Hyuk, Kim Min Jae, Seol In Ah, and many others made cameo appearances. If you’re wondering why so many famous people made cameos in “THE Producers,” it’s because the show is an unusual K-drama shot in a documentary style, making it a lot of fun to watch.
Well, we can always expect the best with K-dramas. So what are you waiting for? Let’s watch all these shows on KOCOWA!
