“Iron Family” Episodes 19 & 20 Recap:
- Tae Woong breaks into tears when Seung Don visits him. He tells Seung Don that he blames himself for being born and resents no one but himself. Gang Ju confronts Tae Woong aggressively, demanding to know why Seung Don visited so early in the morning and what brought him all the way there before work. Spotting a plane ticket on the table, Gang Ju assumes Seung Don came to save Tae Woong by clearing a misunderstanding. Feeling betrayed, Gang Ju’s world begins to crumble as his lifelong role model, Seung Don, and his loving father, seem to have shifted their attention to Tae Woong.
- Gang Ju is officially fired from the company, leaving Da Rim feeling deeply sorry for him. Gang Ju feels like he has lost both his father and his career. Aware of this, Ji Yeon is devastated and asks Seung Don for a divorce. Despite her heartbreak, Ji Yeon remains composed, trying to stay strong for her son, Gang Ju.
- Da Rim’s heart is shattered when Cha Rim confesses that she and Tae Woong had been in a romantic relationship long before Tae Woong revealed himself as the building owner and Seung Don’s son. Da Rim confronts Tae Woong, asking why he only sees her as a younger sister instead of a woman.
- Gang Ju discovers that Da Rim secretly slipped a plane ticket to Seung Don, which leads him to clear Tae Woong’s name. Furious, Gang Ju confronts Da Rim but ends up consoling her when she breaks down crying. He learns that her heartbreak stems from Tae Woong rejecting her feelings, which unexpectedly makes Gang Ju feel relieved and he forgets why he was there to meet her in the first place.
- Still searching for his mother’s lost money, Gang Ju sneaks into Da Rim’s dry cleaner to return a USB drive. While holding his breath and tiptoeing, Bong Hee and Man Deuk suddenly enter with urgent business. Bong Hee vents about Mu Rim interrogating her regarding the wedding gift the anonymous guests used to launder money. Unnoticed, Gang Ju eavesdrops as Bong Hee admits she nearly confessed to bringing 10 billion won home, part of which was burned when Gang Ju accidentally set the place on fire.
- Stunned by what he overhears, Gang Ju realizes that the 10 billion won Bong Hee mentioned matches the amount of money his mother lost.
- Ji Yeon decides to sell her house and finalize her divorce from Seung Don. Seung Don offers to buy the house himself, but Ji Yeon initially refuses. However, when he explains that police frequently search the house for a safe, she agrees, fearing new owners would increase the risk of discovery.
- Determined to uncover the truth about the money, Gang Ju visits Da Rim’s house and sneaks into Man Deuk’s room. Lifting the bed, he finds bundles of cash marked with “AA.” Shocked, he takes the house key, planning to return later. Struggling with guilt over burning 30% of the money, Gang Ju debates whether to reveal the truth. He tries persuading Ji Yeon to abandon her pursuit of the money, but she dismisses him, believing it to be nonsense.
- Gang Ju resolves to recover the money and secretly bury it on Ji Yeon’s property. Meanwhile, Da Rim’s house key goes missing, and Man Deuk briefly suspects he has amnesia. When Gang Ju learns the entire family is out dining with Mu Rim’s family, he seizes the opportunity to sneak back into the house.
