“Undercover High School” Episode 11 Recap

We start with sorrow as we are reminded of Hae Seong discovering his father’s body in the basement. Next to the body he also sees a bullet and knows that this is the bullet that killed his father.
Chairman Seo gets to the school, but Hae Seong has already snuck away, and she is enraged when she sees that there is no gold to be found. She is so enraged that she steps up into an even higher level of crazy.
Hae Seong is understandably sad and has his father’s funeral in a funeral hall where his team and the students all pay their respects. The next day, Hae Seong visits his father’s star for unknown fallen soldiers in the line of duty and then sets out for what feels like revenge, at least that is what Teacher Oh thinks when he acts strangely nostalgic with her.
Hae Seong is out for revenge and goes to a secure hotel where Director Kim is staying. He manages to find out Director Kim’s room and bursts in, holding a gun on him. However, he doesn’t want to kill Director Kim, his real goal is to copy Director Kim’s phone, which he does successfully.
But his team and Teacher Oh don’t know that! They deduce from Hae Seong’s strange behavior that he went to Director Kim’s hotel to kill him, so they go charging to the hotel to stop Hae Seong. This leads to all sorts of hijinks and high-flying action as they break Hae Seong out of the hotel.
Back at Hae Seong’s place, he reveals his plan and the duplicated phone he created from Director Kim’s phone.
Cut to Chairman Seo going even further into her insanity and creating even more hardships for the students, like increasing the tuition by 50% and removing scholarships.
Director Kim meets with Chairman Seo, and we get a reveal of how Hae Seong’s father actually died. Chairman Seo is the one who shot him! Hae Seong listens to their entire conversation through the duplicated phone and is enraged.
He goes to meet Director Kim to convince him that they can take down Chairman Seo together, but finds him stabbed in his car! The henchman knocks out Hae Seong right at that moment, and Hae Seong wakes up inside the car with the knife in his hands and Director Kim’s blood all over him. NIS officers show up practically right when Hae Seong wakes up and arrest him.
Word gets out to everyone in Korea that Hae Seong is arrested, and Hae Seong’s home is searched and seized. The NIS team makes a copy of Director Kim’s confession, but the corrupt NIS team takes it from them.
Chairman Seo goes to Hae Seong in the interrogation room to threaten him with the welfare of his loved ones if he does not reveal where the gold is. He just thinks she is a pitiful monster now.
The corrupt NIS agents take Hae Seong away in a vehicle, but Hae Seong fights them in the van, and they get into a huge accident. Like huge, huge! The van flips down a snowy hill and everything, and no one but the driver was wearing their seatbelt.
Somehow, Hae Seong uses one of his nine lives and walks away from this, though he passes out in a phone booth after calling Teacher Oh for help.
“Undercover High School” Episode 12 Recap
Teacher Oh rushes to where Hae Seong passed out (she has some way of knowing where payphones are located) and takes him to a motel where she nurses him back to health all night long.
The next morning, Hae Seong is surprisingly all better with only a few cuts to show for his insane car accident. But his turmoil is not done. After our NIS team shows up (in snow hiking outfits to not be noticed), we find out that they were able to make another copy of the USB, only it is hidden in a couch in Seong’s place. Before they can figure out a plan, the bad NIS agents have found them and have to plan another sudden escape!
Hae Seong and Teacher Oh jump out of the third-story window onto some old mattresses and separate, with Hae Seong telling her to go to his place to find the USB.
The NIS team gets arrested, but both Hae Seong and Teacher Oh manage to escape. Hae Seong meets with senior agent Kong and convinces him to get the USB from his home and give it to him. Senior agent Kong listened to the recording and is now on Hae Seong’s side.
Meanwhile, Teacher Oh goes to the school and has her own confrontation with Chairman Seo, where she passionately tells her that education is for all and every student should have a chance to learn, not just the rich and well-connected ones.
Chairman Seo tells her that she will reverse her decision if Teacher Oh resigns. Teacher Oh agrees, but around the corner, we see that Yoo Jung overheard it all.
In an assembly, Chairman Seo tells the students that she will remove all the harsh rules she enforced. But Yoo Jung knows there was a catch and that Teacher Oh was forced to quit. She bravely yells this in front of everyone, and other students ask why Chairman Seo would do this.
Chairman Seo tells the other teachers to take down the names of those students who spoke. But all of the students started yelling out their names in solidarity, first one by one and then in clusters, and started chanting for the chairman to step down. Teacher Oh witnessed this while walking by and was overcome with emotion. The students were also overcome and surrounded her to reiterate their love for Teacher Oh.
The chairman is about to have a super mental breakdown and tells her henchman to take her daughter home. Then she pours gasoline on all the people in the room, via the fire sprinkler system, and lights a match, saying they can all die together.
Hae Seong runs in at that moment to convince her not to do this. But the only thing that finally convinces her to stop is when her daughter, Ye Na, comes running back inside and begs her not to do this.
Chairman Seo tries to shoot herself, but Teacher Oh stops her. However, the match drops! Hae Seong jumps and slides across the gasoline-covered floor to grab it before it hits the floor!
He saves the day in the coolest way possible, of course.
Everyone who should be arrested is arrested, and just when we think all is well, Hae Seong passes out! While passed out, he dreams of his father and himself putting up stars in their house. He wakes up in the hospital with his team and teacher Oh (and her mother, lol) surrounding him.
After fretting over him, they fill him in on everything that happened while he was out. There is a trial, and the henchman is ready to take the fall. Hae Seong goes to interview him to find out why he is so devoted to Chairman Seo. This devotion ruined her and was ruining her daughter.
During the trial, the henchman has a come to Jesus moment and reveals everything that Chairman Seo did, including the people she had murdered or murdered herself. She is sentenced to life in prison.
Later on, possibly days or weeks or months later, Ye Na visits her mother to tell her she dropped out of high school and wants to start over where everything she does is with her own merit. She tells her mother she loves her but that she will need some time to process all this before visiting her again. She will visit again, though.
Hae Seong goes to the school to tell all the students he misses them. They pretend like they don’t know him for some reason. Teacher Oh apologizes outside to Hae Seong on the kid’s behalf. But then we see dozens of paper planes fly by, all with letters from the students wishing him well, and they all yell from the windows that they miss him.
Hae Seong and teacher Oh have a meal at Quiznos, and then Hae Seong starts to pack up his home. He sees a star on the floor while packing, which reminds him of his father hiding a North Star for him to find later on. Under the floorboard where that star is, are all the gold bars!
Hae Seong cannot believe they were in his own home this entire time. He calls his uncle and tells him that he has completed his mission.
Hop to 5 years later. Teacher Oh tells her old high school student that she is finally a full-time teacher, and we find out what several of the high school kids and NIS agents are doing now. Everyone leveled up.
We end on a fun dinner at Teacher Oh’s mom’s place with all the found family members and then at a viewing station where Hae Seong proposes to Teacher Oh under the stars and seals it with a kiss.
The End.
Or is it because we get a tiny snippet of Hae Seong coming back as a teacher!
