Here are the highlights of episodes 5 & 6 of “Iron Family”.

“Iron Family” Episodes 5 & 6 Recap:

  • Ji Yeon, who had her inherited money stolen, is more concerned about the missing money when she should be worried about the consequences once it is returned. This is because she has avoided paying a tax she owed for many years, making her a non-law-abiding citizen. Kang Ju warns her that if the money is found, Seung Don and his company will be ruined, suggesting it would be better to forget about the $10 million entirely. Seung Don is deeply disappointed in Ji Yeon for hiding this secret from him for so long.
  • Bong Hee goes to great lengths to ask her eldest son, Moo Rim, to contribute money for Da Rim’s surgery to cure her blindness. Da Rim accidentally overhears the heated conversation between her brother and mother, and her heart breaks from the guilt of being a burden on her family. Cha Rim and Moo Rim, the eldest siblings, have resented Bong Hee their whole lives for giving all her attention to Da Rim, who was born with vision impaired. Bong Hee, torn between her children, remains unwavering in her desire to help Da Rim regain her sight, even in the face of her other children’s resentment. Da Rim is also conflicted, silently crying as she listens to her family argue over her.
  • Feeling hopeless, Da Rim quietly leaves home to drink and drown her sorrows. She blames herself for being the weak link in the family, forcing them to spend money on her medical condition. After drinking, she realizes she has no money to pay the bill. Unable to reach Tae Woong, she reluctantly calls Kang Ju. Out of pity, Kang Ju comes to meet her. Da Rim asks him for 50,000 won, which she had lent him for a motel fee in the past. Kang Ju not only pays for her drinks but also ends up taking her home.
  • Da Rim tells Kang Ju she doesn’t want to return home to her family, and she ends up spending the night with him.
  • Fed up with being a burden, Da Rim decides to give up on her eye surgery and asks Bong Hee to return all the money she borrowed from others. She then gives the money to Moo Rim and Cha Rim, informing them that she no longer needs help with the surgery. However, instead of being relieved, Moo Rim and Cha Rim respond coldly, much to Da Rim’s surprise.
  • During the drunken night when Da Rim called Kang Ju for help, she confesses that the reason she fell for him was because of his writing. She explains how she admired the male protagonist he created, finding him incredibly charming. This revelation sparks Kang Ju’s curiosity, as he was a college student at the time when he wrote it. Intrigued, Kang Ju considers writing again.
  • Gil Rye and Man Deuk can’t stop thinking about the large sum of money that was buried in the mountains. After receiving confirmation from their grandson, Moo Rim, a police officer, that only the person who stole the money would face charges, not those who unknowingly used it, they decide to return to the mountains to retrieve the cash.
