Have you ever watched a K-Drama that made you say, “I want what they have,” referring to a friendship? I got you! Watching Korean dramas made me yearn for my own K-Drama squad because of their undying bond and chemistry with one another! In every K-Drama that I have ever watched, there will be a squad that will capture the viewer’s heart no matter what genre it is! Don’t believe me? Then let me introduce 5 K-Drama squads that will prove to you that K-Drama friendships are one thing that makes Korean dramas special no matter what genre it is!
Three Seuli Musketeers of “Extra-ordinary You” (2019)
“Extra-ordinary You” is a high school drama that follows the story of Dan Oh and how she became aware that she’s just a side character who’s going to die in the fictional world of manhwa (webtoon). While becoming aware of her fate, she met Haru and Dohwa who are also side characters just like her.
The three, who are all aware that their characters were brought to life because of Namju and Juda (the main characters of the manhwa they are living in), formed a special bond after spending all their time together trying to find out how to defy their fate instead of just following the author’s plan for them.
What makes their friendship special is that Dan oh and Dohwa are the chaotic type who takes care of their introverted and cute friend, Haru. Their bond formed precious memories of friendships that they will treasure for a lifetime! Dan Oh, Haru, and Dohwa proved that the sentence “We are all the main characters of our lives” is true after always defying their already determined fate.

Korean National Police University (KNPU) Squad of “Police University” (2021)
“Police University” is a youthful drama that follows the story of aspiring students who want to become part of the police force. The drama shows the struggles, life, love, and story of different students and how they formed a memorable bond after getting entangled in an illegal gambling case.
The drama has the perfect amount of mystery, romance, action, and a heartwarming relationship between the students and their professors. The way they all support each other made the bond so memorable because you can see that they really care for each other, and they proved that they will always have each other’s back.
The five all have different personalities from each other like the introverted Sun Oh, feisty Kang Hee, playful dumb and dumber duo, Beom Tae and Joon Wook, and serious Min Kyu, but after spending time – studying and investigating the illegal gambling case, they formed a good relationship which had amazing dynamics with one another. They all experienced ups and downs, which made their bond stronger.
KNPU squad shows that success is sweeter and more meaningful when you succeed altogether.

Rainbow Deluxe Company Squad of “Taxi Driver” (2021)
“Taxi Driver” is a revenge drama that follows the story of a taxi company that offers a “revenge-call” service on behalf of their clients who are unable to get justice from the law. The Rainbow Deluxe Company Squad is not your ordinary friendship squad because this squad takes revenge and punishes evil people who wronged others, in the most satisfying way. The squad consists of a former Captain turned taxi driver, a prosecutor who fights injustice through the law, a director of a non-profit foundation that helps victims, a skilled hacker, and two mechanics. All of them share the same story – the law did not give justice to their families.
“Taxi Driver” is a drama that will make you think of the victim’s families and how they save some in the process. One thing that makes this drama more special is how the stories of the victims were based on real-life crimes that happened in Korea and how they give light to different social issues.
“Do not overcome evil with evil, but overcome evil with good” We all know there are limits to the current justice system, and it’s hard to differentiate what is right from wrong, so it’s very refreshing to see how the drama taught the criminals a lesson in ways that the law can’t. “Taxi Driver” is a great drama about revenge and trauma, but it never forgets to remind us that these kinds of emotions are what make us human.

Geumga Plaza Squad of “Vincenzo” (2021)
The Geumga Plaza squad, more like the Guemga Plaza family, is from the world of “Vincenzo!” The drama follows the story of Vincenzo Cassano, an Italian lawyer and Mafia consigliere who moved to Korea to recover 1.5 tons of gold within the basement of Geumga Plaza.
Vincenzo only cared about gold but later found his own family in the Geumga Plaza tenants. The team all worked together to fight Babel, who wanted to take down the Geumga Plaza. What makes this squad more special is how it’s composed of different people who all have different job specializations. The Geumga Plaza squad is composed of a mafia, lawyer, a former special effect make-up artist turned paralegal, an undercover agent of the International Security Intelligence Service, a former gang member turned laundromat owner, the chef of an Italian restaurant, a former boxer turned owner of a snack bar, a hacker turned owner of a piano school, and a lot more! Maybe the Geumga Plaza squad really has everything, and they make the investigation and revenge more fun and enjoyable to watch because of their comedic antics. Every character shines in their own ways!
Vincenzo Cassano is really lucky to have the Geumga Plaza Squad as his best support system and vice versa. They have each other’s back, and they show amazing teamwork when working together!
99z of “Hospital Playlist” (2020)
“Hospital Playlist” follows the story of five doctors in their 40s who have been best friends since they entered medical school in 1999. The story revolves around a group of friends as they embark on hospital adventures involving medicine, music, and relationships.
What makes this drama special is how it is so relatable to watch! You will find yourself immersed in the stories of the everyday life of five doctors in Yulje Hospital. We can see Ikjun, Junwan, Jeongwon, Seokhyeong, and Songhwa enjoying their daily life of spending time together while working, eating, and doing band practice. The squad is the ultimate K-Drama squad because, with just small gestures and little words, they will know what each other is trying to say.
“Hospital Playlist” is more than a medical drama because it highlights the life’s ups and downs of healthcare workers in a healing, refreshing, calming, and soothing way. It made us learn that love, friendship, happiness, hard work, and sadness are the feelings that make us human, and it’s beautiful if we have a few people we can share these emotions with. A drama that shows how our ordinary lives can be meaningful.
We all want a friendship that can last forever, and K-Dramas gave us the chance to experience it while watching. Everybody, let’s say thank you to K-Dramas for showing us the importance of friendships! And if you haven’t watched some of these dramas that inspired me to have squad goals, then you can binge-watch them on KOCOWA!
