Every week, the Good Data Corporation compiles data on viewer engagement with K-drama news, posts, videos, and social media to identify the most buzzworthy dramas and actors/actresses. And luckily, KOCOWA+’s “My Dearest”, “The Escape of the Seven”, and “Live Your Own Life” made it into the rank!

Most Loved K-Dramas at the Moment

1. “My Dearest

Taking the top spot for the most buzzworthy drama of the week is Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin’s historical melodrama, “My Dearest” Part 2. It’s one of the most highly anticipated K-dramas of October, especially after the cliffhanger ending of Part 1 several months ago.

If you’re looking for a K-drama to watch right now, this is the one! The story unfolds against the backdrop of a war during the invasion of the Qing Dynasty in Joseon. Here, Namkoong Min portrays the enigmatic Lee Jang Hyun, who’s willing to risk everything for his love, Nam Gil Chae, played by Ahn Eun Jin. Part 1 already provided a glimpse of their beautiful yet tragic encounter, making us root and anticipate their story in Part 2.

2. “Strong Girl Nam Soon

Lee Yoo Mi and Ong Seung Wu’s superhero K-drama takes the second spot as the most popular drama of the week. It’s a spinoff of the beloved 2018 drama “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon,” starring Park Bo Young and Park Hyung Sik.

If you’re in the mood for something fun and light-hearted, this is the perfect drama for you. This fantasy series revolves around a family where every woman possesses extraordinary powers. What makes this drama truly enjoyable is its carefree and entertaining nature, offering an enjoyable viewing experience without the need for deep thinking.

3. “Castaway Diva

Queen Park Eun Bin’s 2023 drama, “Castaway Diva,” ranks as the third most popular drama of the week. This drama narrates the story of a girl who spent 15 years stranded on a remote island and her pursuit of becoming a diva. Eagerly anticipated Park Eun Bin’s comeback after her role as Woo Young Woo in last year’s hit series, this drama marks her reunion with Chae Jong Hyeop, who previously played a supporting character in “Stove League” but now takes on the male lead role.

Check Out Park Eun Bin’s Other Titles: “Stove League”, “Ghost Detective”, “Father, I’ll Take Care of You”, “Judge vs. Judge”, “Do You Like Brahms?”

4. “Twinkling Watermelon

In the fourth spot is Ryeoun and Choi Hyun Wook’s fantasy drama, “Twinkling Watermelon.” This timeslip drama follows a child of deaf-mute parents who travels back in time to meet his teenage parents and starts a band with his father.

This is currently one of my favorite K-dramas because it evokes memories of “My Perfect Stranger” and explores the experience of living in the time when our parents were young. The drama also showcases the growth of the main character as he learns how to enjoy life and live for himself.

5. “The Escape of the Seven

The Escape of the Seven,” a makjang K-drama, secures the fifth spot as the most buzzworthy drama of the week. This drama boasts an ensemble cast, featuring Um Ki Joon, Hwang Jung Eum, Lee Joon, Lee Yu Bi, Shin Eun Kyung, Yoon Jong Hoon, Jo Yoon Hee, and Jo Jae Yoon. It depicts the journey of searching for the truth and the bloody revenge that resembles divine punishment. This follows the story of seven people involved in the case of a missing girl.

Similar to the past works of writer Kim Soon Ok, such as “The Penthouse,” this drama is filled with a comparable level of suspense and frustration, which keeps viewers eagerly anticipating what will happen next. It’s also revealed that the cost of producing the series is about 46.2 billion won!

Check Out Hwang Jung Eum’s Other Titles: “Golden Time” “Endless Love” “Secret Love” “The Undateables” “To All The Guys Who Loved Me” “She Was Pretty” “Kill Me Heal Me”

6. “The Kidnapping Day

Yoon Kye Sang and Park Sung Hoon’s thriller, “The Kidnapping Day,” claims the seventh spot for the most buzzworthy drama of the week. Based on a novel of the same title, this series tells the story of a father desperate for money to pay his daughter’s hospital bills. He decides to kidnap a girl named Ro-hee in exchange for a ransom from her wealthy parents, setting off a series of unexpected events.

7. “The Elegant Empire

Kim Jin Woo and Han Ji Wan’s “The Elegant Empire” secured the seventh spot as the most popular drama of the week. This KBS drama narrates the tale of a man and a woman seeking revenge with grace after enduring oppression from immense power. Despite a change in the male lead, the series continues to evoke the same emotions and enthralling storytelling that captivated viewers in the initial 33 episodes.

8. “A Good Day To Be A Dog

Finally, Cha Eun Woo is back, and his drama with Park Gyu Young ranks as the eighth most talked-about drama of the week. This fantasy webtoon-based drama revolves around a woman cursed to transform into a dog when she kisses someone. The only way to break the curse is for the person she kissed to kiss her while she’s in her dog form. However, the person she kissed is afraid of dogs!

Cha Eun Woo and Park Gyu Young’s chemistry in this rom-com is one of the main reasons to watch this drama. It’s a feel-good drama that will have you laughing at every moment.

Check out Cha Eun Woo’s Other Titles: “Handsome Tigers” “Master in the House” “Shoot-out: Mart War”

Check out Park Gyu Young’s Other Titles: “Dali and Cocky Prince”

9. Evilive

Shin Ha Kyun and Kim Young Kwang’s thriller, “Evilive,” takes the ninth spot for the most talked-about drama of the week. The series delves into the life of a struggling lawyer who encounters an absolute villain and transforms into an elite villain himself.

10. “Live Your Own Life

Uee and Ha Jun’s KBS weekend drama, “Live Your Own Life,” secures the tenth spot as the most beloved drama of the week. This family drama portrays a daughter who dedicated her life to her family but, due to the hardships they imposed, embarks on a journey to live life on her terms. This drama resonates with many, especially those who have always prioritized their families and is a reminder that it’s okay to choose oneself.
