“My Dearest” finished Part 1 by breaking its highest ratings record.
According to Nielsen Korea (a ratings research company), the 10th episode of MBC’s Friday-Saturday drama “My Dearest,” broke its record, recording 12.2% nationwide ratings and 11.5% in the metropolitan area. This is the number one in all the time slots and the number one rating in overall Friday-Saturday drama.
What Happend in the Last Episode? (Episode 10)
In the 10th episode of “My Dearest,” the heartbreaking love story between Lee Jang Hyun (Namkoong Min) and Yoo Gil Chae (An Eun Jin) captured viewers’ hearts. After a terrible war and a few fatalities, the two confirmed each other’s feelings. However, harsh fate separated the two again, turning everyone into tears.
Years have passed since Lee Jang Hyun left for Shenyang, the Qing Dynasty. Lee Jang Hyun, who was finally able to step on the land of Joseon, returned to Hanyang full of flower shoes for Yoo Gil Chae. However, Yoo Gil Chae, who thought Lee Jang Hyun was dead, was about to marry Koo Won Moo (Ji Seung Hyun). She was mistaken that Koo Hae Moo saved her life in the past but in fact, it was Jang Hyun who saved her, Jang Hyun could not tell the truth because he was sorry for Yoo Gil Chae.
Lee Jang Hyun felt deeply angry and sad that Yoo Gil Chae was trying to marry a man other than Nam Yeon Jun (Lee Hak Ju). Yoo Gil Chae ran with joy and surprise that Lee Jang Hyun was alive. However, Lee Jang Hyun poured out harsh words to Yoo Gil Chae. Yoo Gil Chae also turned cold because she was upset and heartbroken that she longed for Lee Jang Hyun, who left her behind several times.
Why Did Gil Chae Not Wait Enough for Jang Hyun?
There was a reason why Yoo Gil Chae decided to marry Koo Won Moo. He was the one who protected Yoo Gil Chae’s father. And it was Liang Eum (Kim Yoon Woo) who had the greatest influence on Yoo Gil Chae’s decision. Liang Eum lied to Yoo Gil Chae that Lee Jang Hyun died and that he met another woman before he died.
Lee Jang Hyun, who belatedly found out that Yoo Gil Chae misunderstood because of Liang Uum, was furious. Then he visited Yoo Gil Chae again and begged. Yoo Gil Chae also poured out feelings of sadness, love, and resentment for Lee Jang Hyun, whom she had in her heart all this time. In response, Lee Jang Hyun said, “I’m going to die at your hands, and your hands only” adding, “Let’s get out of here.” For a moment, the two were filled with passion, and with hands held tight, they started running.
What Happens to Jang Hyun and Gil Chae Next?
Like that, Lee Jang Hyun and Yoo Gil Chae ran away together. Lee Jang Hyun proposed to Yoo Gil Chae with the sweetest marriage proposal saying, “I will be everything, do everything for you”. However, the fate of the two was too harsh on them. Yoo Gil Chae came to greet her father for a while before leaving with Lee Jang Hyun and encountered Koo Won Moo. Yoo Gil Chae then realizes that she cannot leave behind her father, younger brother, and her friend Kyung Ae (Lee Da In), who shared life and death.
Eventually, Yoo Gil Chae returned home. Lee Jang Hyun watched Yoo Gil Chae from a distance and turned around in tears. Yoo Gil Chae delivered a cold letter to Lee Jang Hyun hoping that this would make it easier for them. The fate of the two was once again not on their side. Two years later, Lee Jang Hyun rescued the Joseon prisoners from Shenyang. And 10th episode of “My Dearest” ended with Jang Hyun facing blue masked woman (Lee Chung Ah), a prisoner hunter of the Qing Dynasty.
When Will “My Dearest” Part 2 Air Again?
“My Dearest,” which first aired on August 4, wrapped up Part 1 with 10 episodes on September 2. Part 1 of “My Dearest” showed intense storytelling by depicting the mournful love of lovers and the strong vitality of the people in the terrible war of the Manchu War of the Byeongja Horan with dense and solid development and elegant and gem-like lines. On top of that, the combination of production with both delicacy and power, brilliant visual beauty, and powerful scale attracted viewers. Above all, the versatile acting of actors such as Namkoong Min, Ahn Eun Jin, Lee Hak Joo, Lee Da In, and Kim Yoon Woo, boosted immersion and caused admiration from the viewers in every single episode.
