*SPOILERS ALERT*
I believed that, since there are only two episodes left, there wouldn’t be any more surprises, but oh boy, I was wrong. “Young Lady and Gentleman,” which was originally 50 episodes, ended up extending to 52 episodes. According to Nielsen Korea, a ratings research company, on the 28th, the last episode of KBS2’s weekend drama “Young Lady and Gentleman” recorded 36.8% of viewership ratings, finishing strong.
What made the last two episodes reach such high ratings? Well, let’s find out. *SURPRISES ALERT*
- Soo Chul Leaves
Soo Chul is adamant about taking care of Ana Kim until she is fully recovered. However, Yeon Sil also firmly disapproves. Yeon Sil tells Soo Chul, if he wants to be the caregiver of Ana Kim, then he would have to divorce Yeon Sil first.
- Young Guk’s Secret Plan
After Young Guk receives an apology from Ana Kim, and after hearing where she was coming from, Young Guk arranges a secret lunch for Dan Dan and Ana Kim. Dan Dan is startled to see Ana Kim. Ana Kim, thinking that this might be the last supper ever with Dan Dan, carries on with lunch even if it is awkward. Dan Dan regrets all the times she coldly ignored Ana Kim, and they finally both hug it out and cry.
- Dan Dan Goes and Helps Ana Kim
After they both mend things, Dan Dan visits Ana Kim’s place to help her out. Ana Kim is in worse condition than she thought…Dan Dan stays beside her. However, Yeon Sil, who finds Soo Chul vacant in the middle of the night, finds Soo Chul drinking by himself in agony.
- Yeon Sil Visits Ana Kim
Yeon Sil makes pumpkin soup and visits Ana Kim to tell her to take good care of herself and recover well after the surgery. However, she spots Dan Dan opening the door and is in shock because Dan Dan had told her she was sleeping over at her friend’s house, but she was actually with Ana Kim. Yeon Sil coldly leaves after saying harsh words to Dan Dan. Yeon Sil felt like she was stabbed in the back by Dan Dan lying. Yeon Sil feels like the whole world is collapsing after seeing both her husband and daughter in such agony… Yeon Sil finally accepts this whole situation and lets Soo Chul take care of Ana Kim. But Ana Kim refuses.
- Cha Gun Asks Sa Ra
Cha Gun Asks Sa Ra to move to Vietnam with him, and there they can start a new life together with the baby on the way. Sa Ra agrees, and they both seem to be on the right track. When Cha Gun takes Sa Ra home after their date, Sa Ra accidentally slips and falls down the stairs leading her to lose her baby…
- Ana Kim – Rest in peace…
It was shocking to see Ana Kim rushed to the hospital after their outing with everyone, including Young Guk’s kids. Ana Kim was put into a hospital bed and rushed into the ER but ended up passing away… Dan Dan grieves for her mother…
- Dan Dan and Young Guk’s Happy Ending
Soo Chul finally accepts his relationship, and Dan Dan is immensely happy. Young Guk then takes Dan Dan to a fancy restaurant where Dan Dan thinks for sure that he is going to propose to her. She looked for her ring in the desert, but she was a bit disappointed to not find anything…LOL. Young Guk takes Dan Dan home, and she still didn’t get proposed to, so she goes home empty-handed… LOL.
- Grand Proposal
Even though Dan Dan and Young Guk’s last date was somewhat of a disappointment, Young Guk prepares a grand proposal for Dan Dan. He has prepared the proposal with all three kids, and, as she is walking down the stairs of this fancy building, everyone hands her a rose, and once she finally gets to the end, she finds Young Guk and all the kids singing and performing for her on stage. Dan Dan is sincerely happy. Young Guk even gives Dan Dan his mother’s ring. However, Dan Dan returns it back to him and insists he give the ring to Dae Ran.
- Dan Dan and Young Guk’s Wedding
Dan Dan and Young Guk are busy planning for their wedding. Young Guk introduces Dan Dan to his friends, and Dan Dan introduces him to her friends. Dan Dan’s friends make jokes about their age differences.
- They Are Finally Getting Married!!
It is the day! The grand wedding of Young Guk and Dan Dan is finally happening! (We’ve literally waited probably like 30 plus episodes for this to happen) And everyone is there to celebrate this huge event. They both look so happy.
How Are You Feeling?
Now that these 52 episodes of “Young Lady and Gentleman” are over, I feel a bit relieved for some reasons. This series definitely threw some curveballs that shocked everyone once in a while, but I will miss those for sure. How are you guys feeling about this series ending? Relieved? Sad? Happy? What happened to Sa Ra and Cha Gun after losing their baby?
I loved this almost too long series. The characters were all appropriately flawed, including Dan Dan and the Chairman. But at the same time each character experienced a redemption by the end. I have to say though that Dan Dan’s wedding dress was awful and disappointing. I was excited to see the country bumpkin transformed into a princess on her wedding day. Instead she looked like a cruise ship performer with those pointed collar abd puffy sleeves.
They part ways with tears on faces. He secretly watches her go up a ramp to get on a plane to start a new life somewhere else.
After Ana Kim died I was sure there would be a scene about Dan Dan’s inheritance. I remember her asking the Chairman to look after things. There was no reading of the will. How can this be? I really liked this drama but felt overwhelmed by the amount of episodes. There was so much I feel needed closure.
It might be a pointless question but why wasn’t Jennie included in the entourage at the wedding? 😅
I’ve been looking for this scene also… cant find it… it drives me crazy

The teaser for ep 52 showed young guk giving back the shares to seryeon? But I don’t see it at all in ep.52
Maybe they changed their minds? This show doesn’t make much sense to me
On the teaser from episode 51, it was shown that Young Guk is giving back her sister’s shares. Howver, no matter how many times i replay episode 52, i didnt see that part. There’s a scene where Dan Dan aunt and step mom talked about it but not the exact scene from the teaser.

The 1st episode to 16 were amazing fun lighthearted leaves me happy and my heart fluttering after watching it..once they inserted the amnesia plot plus the Sara pregnancy it went downhill for me.. i felt like the writer put more emphasis on the villain rather than the leads ..Sara got more screen time than DD! it suppose to be a family drama but i felt like so many episodes were wasted over useless plot it somehow was dragging! But i endured watching it coz i really love YOUNGDAN and of course the most adorable Lee Kids! I wish the writer focused more on DD and YG And how they could overcome the challenges that come their way..i wish they would have shown us their married life ..well we got about 2 min of it on Youtube..
This series suffered horribly from the memory loss trope being beaten like a dead horse. It was difficult to care about anything at the end.

I think I will miss tuning in and watching all the craziness. Will surely miss Dan Dan and the Chairman and their outstanding performances. Se Ryun and Dae Baum too. Their love story was so moving along with The sweet romance between the young couple. Theses couples provided a good balance for all the other irrational characters and their craziness. Also, the children were adorable. They stole the scenes they appeared in!
I cannot agree more! I will definitely miss the Se Ryun Dae Bum couple too! And all the main characters who played their roles so perfectly.
