Jang Dong Yoon has always been a man of justice! Before his debut, South Korean news outlets reported that he witnessed a robbery, called the police, and even pursued the criminal. The 29-year-old star’s great personality traits inspire K-drama production teams to choose him for the noblest roles.

When Jang Dong Yoon began portraying Prince Chungnyeong in SBS’ “Joseon Exorcist” last year, his fans were ready to watch him in another great role. Unfortunately, viewers’ concerns about the distortion of history, among other things, led to sponsors dropping the supernatural K-drama and the network canceling the show. He even made a personal apology to his supporters for participating in the series!

Many fans definitely missed the handsome leading man for the majority of 2021. Now that a new year has begun, let’s search for other enjoyable Jang Dong Yoon programming as we patiently wait for his grand return.

KOCOWA features him in a few beloved K-dramas. He particularly shines in his early shows “School 2017,” “Just Dance,” “2017 KBS Drama Special” (“If We Were a Season”) and a cameo appearance in the “2018 KBS Drama Special” (“The Tuna And The Dolphin”). The fresh-faced actor had no problem playing high school students for a while, despite the fact that he made his acting debut well into his twenties.

He was a young scholar trying to maintain a perfect academic record in “School 2017,” while “Just Dance” displayed more of an artistic side as an aspiring dancer. Both roles helped Jang Dong Yoon earn the adorable boy next door image many can’t help but fall in love with. He plays the good guy K-drama fans are always hoping wins his love interest’s heart.

He takes on the leading role of Ki-Seok in the “2017 KBS Drama Special.” The great thing about this TV movie is that it’s only a little over an hour long. Even though he is still playing a high school student, fans can see the height and depth of his outstanding acting from start to finish in one session.

Jang Dong Yoon was recognized for his natural talent early in his career. He earned the first award for his role in “Just Dance” at the “2018 KBS Drama Awards,” and he was honored with the Special Short Drama Actor Award.

Last year may have slowed him down, but he has plenty of other K-dramas on his resume that will aid him in the years ahead. The young star made his debut in JTBC’s “Solomon’s Perjury” and gained a more dedicated following with the popular shows tvN’s “A Poem A Day” and “Mr. Sunshine,” and OCN’s “Search.”

“A Poem A Day” was one of the first programs that allowed him to branch out into more adult roles. In this comedic medical series, he played Shin Min Ho, who was following in his parent’s medical footsteps by training to be a physical therapist. For “Mr. Sunshine” and “Search,” he played a nobleman and sergeant, respectively. In those action-packed productions, he showed off the military mastery he acquired in real-life prior to his entertainment debut. (Jang Dong Yoon served his mandatory military duty shortly after graduating high school in 2012.)
