Since first hearing that Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young were in talks to star in a romantic comedy legal drama, I eagerly anticipated meeting this pairing!
“The Law Cafe” is one of the many new Korean dramas premiering this September that has caught my eye! Even though the drama hasn’t started airing yet, I’ve already fallen head over heels in love with the pairing of Seung Gi and Se Young for the following reasons:
This marks Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young’s Reunion Drama
Did you know that “The Law Cafe” is not the first drama Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young starred in? They first worked together in “A Korean Odyssey,” which makes this their reunion drama after 5 years!
Working on a drama together in the past means that these two already formed a connection, and we are already seeing it in the drama’s teasers and posters! It’s also amazing that you will not see any trace of Oh Gong and Bu Ja (Their past characters in “A Korean Odyssey”), which shows Seung Gi and Se Young’s range as actors and actresses!
Lee Seung Gi is a Multi Entertainer
I know some people know Lee Seung Gi as an actor, some people know him as a singer, but he’s also an entertainer. Seung Gi has been a multi-entertainer for the past few years, balancing his career as an actor with that of a singer as well as entertainer. In fact, his multifaceted talent has garnered him the title “Triple Threat Entertainer.”
SBS’s “Master in the House” currently features Lee Seung Gi. “Master in the House” is a variety show where the contestants spend two days and one night learning from and spending time out with respected experts in various subjects (called “Masters”). Due to the success of this program, he was named “Entertainer of the Year” at the “2021 SBS Entertainment Awards“!
He has also worked on various shows such as “Little Forest” and even became the host of the survival program “Produce 48,” which made the popular K-Pop girl group IZ*ONE!
Lee Se Young Has Been In The Industry for 25 Years
Lee Se Young started as a child actress in 1997, so she’s been in the acting industry for over 20 years! Se Young has been in several dramas, but it wasn’t until the romantic comedy “Lovers of Music,” starring Ji Hyun Woo and Jung Eun Ji, that she really started to rise to prominence.
Through the family drama “The Gentlemen of Wolgyesu Tailor Shop,” Lee Se Young won her first acting award, the ‘Best New Actress’ at the prestigious Baeksang Arts Awards! Since then, Lee Se Young has exhibited her versatility in a variety of roles, including that of a cheerful student in the KBS drama “Best Punch,” a resident in “Doctor John,” a hardworking part-timer in the science fiction thriller “KAIROS,” and more.
Lee Seung Gi Plays an Ordinary Character for the First Time in a Long Time
Since “The Law Cafe” features Lee Seung Gi’s first “normal” character in a long while (one who isn’t immortal, a serial killer, or out for revenge), the drama has received a great deal of attention.
In his early years as an actor, Lee Seung Gi has taken on works with unusual themes, such as boyfriend of a gumiho in “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” or a crown prince in “The King 2 Hearts” or a half human and half gumiho in “Kangchi, the Beginning“!
Even after his military enlistment, he focused on fantasy, action, and psychological thrillers, so everybody is looking forward to seeing this new side of Lee Seung Gi in the romantic comedy “The Law Cafe“!
This Mark Lee Se Young’s Comeback Drama after “The Red Sleeve”
Those of us who haven’t moved on from “The Red Sleeve” eagerly anticipate Lee Se Young’s next role. Fear not, I share your enthusiasm for “The Red Sleeve”. It’s so exciting to meet Lee Se Young in a present-day K-Drama again!
They Have Amazing Chemistry Even in Teasers Alone
For some reason, the teaser images of Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young from “The Law Cafe” never fail to make me happy, and I can’t wait to finally meet them! Even in that snapshot, there’s particular chemistry between them; imagine what it’ll be like to watch them interact for an entire show!
The dynamics of our lead’s characters have also been on my mind. In case you didn’t know, Lee Seung Gi and Lee Se Young’s characters used to be academic rivals, then law school classmates, and now they’re landlords and tenants.
Because the two main characters, a prosecutor and a lawyer, have extensive legal training, most of their story occurs in a “law cafe,” a café that doubles as a law firm.
