This upcoming weekend might just be your typical weekend where you just chill at home or go out with your friends. However, when living life in a KOCOWA frenzy, this weekend is not a typical weekend for me nor for the KOCONUTS!

Weekends are usually full of a weekly mix of variety shows where, mostly, we get to watch special guest stars and immerse ourselves in diverse K-Pop stage performances. However, in addition to those shows, KOCOWA is releasing 5 new shows this weekend for you to dive right into!

“Change Days 2” June 23

Type: Reality

Host: Yang Se Chan, Jang Do Yeon, Hur Young Ji, and CODE KUNST

I am not sure how many of you guys are familiar with this show, but it was viral enough to come back with a season 2! In this show, four couples set off on a trip for two weeks. From long-term couples to those who have dated less than a year, many people of various occupations and backgrounds participate in the show and share their own personal stories.

However, these couples have one thing in common. They are all unhappy with their current relationship. They came on this special trip to either carry a hope of recovering what they have or to find someone new that will make them happier.

Each day is a new day for the couples, where they get to pick and switch the partner to go on a date with. Tears, jealousy, interest, heart-fluttering emotions are all involved in this series. What result will the four couples choose in the end? Will they maintain their original relationship? Or will they choose a new partner? Stay tuned to find out.

“Drink with God” June 24

Type: Reality

Host: Shin Dong Yeop, Sung Si Kyung, Lee Yong Jin, Park Sun Young, and XIUMIN of EXO

Alcohol? Is this even allowed in Korean television shows?! Well, it is not just alcohol, and yes! It’s a “let’s all get drunk and wasted!” type of show.

Shin Dong Yeob, the entertainment world’s famous heavy drinker who lives a life that lives up to the motto, “There are always drinks in our lives,” allows us to contemplate what snacks will be perfect matches for certain kinds of drinks. Sung Si Kyung, Lee Yong Jin, Park Sun Young, and XIUMIN of EXO, all known to love a good drink or two (or three), listen to other guests talk about the concerns of their lives. They also treat the guests to drinks and snacks that will go well with their stories. The host and guests interact with each other more deeply, recommending perfect combinations of alcoholic beverages and snacks based on their experiences. What will be the perfect snacks to eat with these drinks that are recommended by special guests such as Lee Chang Sub of BTOB and Sunny of Girls’ Generation?

“Becoming Witch” June 25

Type: Drama, Comedy, Thriller (“Witch is Alive” literal title)

Cast: Lee Yu Ri, Lee Min Young, Yoon So Yi

These three empowering female characters all have very interesting stories about their married lives.

Gong Ma Ri (Lee Yu Ri) is a housewife of a middle-class family with a celebrity husband and a daughter who is studying abroad. It seems like she’s having a stabled, satisfying family life. However, when she witnesses her husband confessing his love to another woman, her world turns upside down real quick! Making the situation even worse, her insensitive husband wants to divorce her, which makes her want to kill him.

Chae Hee Soo (Lee Min Young) is married to a rich family’s only son and she doesn’t have any children to take care of, but she takes care of her unwell mother-in-law. Her mother-in-law offers an attempted deal when Hee Soo who is going through hardships due to her husband who doesn’t help with getting her pregnant.

Yang Jin A (Yoon So Yi) is single unlike Ma Ri and Hee Soo. Jin A’s husband died five years ago and she received his life insurance, which led her to live a totally different lifestyle than she was accustomed to. How will these three women’s lives pan out?

“United Fathers” June 26

Type: Reality

Host: Jang Yun Jung, In Gyo Jin

These fathers have their game faces on!

Parenting is like a battle. Parents even call out for help from grandparents to raise children. Fathers from all around the globe, who are raising kids in Korea, have gathered. They observe their parenting and share childcare knowledge and hacks. Jang Yun Jung and In Gyo Jin, the hosts, have become the master of parenting. The foreigner fathers from different countries, including America, Italia, China, India, Azerbaijan, and Finland, all are united and have one common goal, to be a good father. Take some notes! Because you might need it for the future!

“First Love, Again” June 27

Host: Kim Shin Young, Kim Yoon Ju, Bae Jin Yea of LABOUM, Jung Hyuk

Who doesn’t reminisce on the old days when you fell in love for the very first time? As many Koreans say, you can never forget your first love.

This reality show will definitely bring back the memories of your very first love. The show will introduce couples who broke up in the past for various reasons and walked away from their first love. But now, they are reunited to see if things can reignite. They come to the show ready to meet their first love again, making the viewers’ hearts flutter with high hopes and expectations. But this is only in the eyes of the outsiders looking in. For the lovers themselves, so many things have changed over the years since breaking up. Will they be able to pick up where they left off? Watch the show to find out whether the old fairytale of “first love lasts forever” is actually true.
