New K-drama alert! The forthcoming campus mystery romance drama starring Han Ji Hyun and Bae In Hyuk, “Cheer Up,” is coming to KOCOWA! Yes, it’s “The Penthouse” Joo Seok Kyung and “XX” Danny!

As a huge fan of school dramas like “Extra-ordinary You,” “School 2017,” and “A-TEEN!” I really am looking so forward to this K-drama because it’s been a while since I last watched an excellent school drama! What are we waiting for, then? Let’s see whether this college love story has us tuning in!

“Cheer Up” Synopsis

Before we watch a K-drama, the first thing we ensure is if the plot is exciting and new and lucky us because “Cheer Up” is probably that drama we haven’t seen before!

“Cheer Up” is a campus mystery romantic comedy set in the backdrop of a cheering squad where eating and living are useless at the moment, but splendid and precious romance is. The drama will depict the young people who come together at a college cheering squad that has fallen on hard times following its glory days.

Meet the Characters of “Cheer Up!”

Han Ji Hyun as Do Hae Yi

Do Hae Yi, the show’s protagonist will be played by Han Ji Hyun. She is a beautiful, bright, and hard-working student who prioritizes making money rather than studying because of her family’s poor financial situation.

For financial reasons, she decided to join the 50-year-old Yeonhee University cheering squad. There, she met several interesting people from Theia and got to experience the excitement of campus life. Because of her financial difficulties, she knows that love and romance are something she can’t afford.

After seeing Han Ji Hyun’s incredible performance as Joo Seok Kyung in “The Penthouse!,” I know I’m not the only person who is looking forward to seeing her as the cheerful and lovely student Do Hae Yi in this drama.

Bae In Hyuk as Park Jung Woo

Bae In Hyuk will be playing Park Jung Woo, leader of Yeonhee University’s Theia cheerleading squad. He is a good man who is misunderstood because he is so rules- and principle-oriented! As the captain, he takes charge of the cheering squad that is in danger of disbanding!

The rising actor Bae In Hyuk, who has been in supporting roles in numerous K-dramas, and finally, he’ll be starring in his own with “Cheer Up!”

Kim Hyun Jin as Jin Sun Ho

Kim Hyun Jin is set to play Jin Sun Ho! The new Theia’s cheering squad member is a rich and handsome medical student. He’s been in a lot of non-serious relationships before, and his life started to become different when he met Do Hae Yi.

Jang Gyuri as Tae Cho Hee

Tae Cho Hee will be portrayed by Jang Gyuri. The vice-captain of Theia’s cheerleading squad is well-liked by both male and female students for her feisty personality.

Lee Eun Saem as Joo Sun Ja

Lee Eun Saem will play Do Hae Yi’s best friend, Joo Sun Ja. Like Jin Sun Ho, she’s a fresh addition to the cheerleading group. Her friendly personality makes her popular wherever she goes.

Yang Dong Geun as Bae Young Woong

The role of Bae Young Woong, a former cheerleader who now owns a pub and provides both financial and emotional support to the cheerleading squad, will be played by Yang Dong Geun.

Why You Should Add “Cheer Up” to your October Watchlist!

As I told you earlier, “Cheer Up” will be that K-drama you haven’t seen before! It is SBS’s first campus drama in 23 years. Yes, 23 years, and it will be focused on a cheering squad! Most K-dramas these days are either too serious or too gloomy, but this one promises to deliver a refreshing blend of romance, comedy, and mystery over the entire series.

With PD Han Tae Seob (“Stove League“), scriptwriter Cha Hae Won (“VIP“), and a cast of talented up-and-comers, I have high hopes for this drama.

And one thing that I look forward to the most in the drama is seeing Han Ji Hyun and Bae In Hyuk’s chemistry because they will be acting as the love interest who loves to bicker! I MEAN, JUST LOOK AT THEM!

The upcoming SBS campus mystery romance “Cheer Up” is set to air on October 3! Let’s meet the Theia cheering squad by subscribing and watching them on KOCOWA!
