On December 19, SBS had a grand award announcement on the 2020 SBS Entertainment Awards. There were many variety show stars in attendance at this awards show, led by three special hosts, Shin Dong Yup, Lee Seung Gi, and Cha Eun Woo. At this special ceremony, due to COVID-19, things were held little differently than last year. There was no red carpet event, and all the attendees wore masks and handed out awards with minimal contact.
The Daesang (Grand Award) this year went to Kim Jong Kook, who is a fixed cast member in “Running Man” and “My Little Old Boy,” two of the most popular variety shows on KOCOWA. This is Kim Jong Kook’s first time winning a Grand Award at the Entertainment Awards.
In his speech, he said:
“I didn’t expect this feeling to come. I was so calm when I won the grand prize as a singer in the past. And I thought ‘Why didn’t I enjoy it more then?’ In the past, when I was a singer, I was so shy that I hated appearing on entertainment shows to promote albums. But I met good friends like Yu Jae Seok and Kang Ho Dong through “Running Man,” and now entertainment seems to be everything in life. Most of all, I sincerely thank the staff. I can feel the warm heart of each person. Thank you and thank you to the “Running Man” members who worked so hard.”
