“Our Golden Days” Episodes 17 & 18 Recap:

  • Sang Cheol passes his exam and starts preparing for the next one, keeping his eyes set on his future.
  • Meanwhile, Ji Hyuk leaves the cafe and moves to a new office. He’s more anxious than ever now that Eun Oh will be out of his sight. To ease his worries, he shows up with an armful of self-defense gadgets for her. Seong Jae, on the other hand, begins giving Eun Oh a ride home every day after work, something that doesn’t go unnoticed by Ji Hyuk, who can’t help but feel a twinge of jealousy.
  • Yeong Ra and Ji Wan grow closer through their shared love of comic books. Ji Wan even takes her to a comic book store for the first time, convincing her to leave her phone behind at her art studio so her mother can’t track her. It’s a small act of rebellion, but for Yeong Ra, who’s never disobeyed her mother or even tasted instant noodles, it’s like stepping into a whole new world.
  • Though Ji Hyuk and Eun Oh remain business partners, something inside Ji Hyuk begins to shift. He starts seeing her not just as a colleague, but as a woman. He finds himself unable to meet her gaze without his heart racing. When Eun Oh saves him from a dangerous situation and injures her wrist in the process, his feelings deepen even more. Using her minor sprain as an excuse, Ji Hyuk offers to carpool with her, just to stay close.
  • One day, Seong Jae confides in Ji Hyuk that his feelings for Eun Oh are growing stronger. The timing couldn’t be worse. Ji Hyuk feels the same way. Torn between friendship and love, Ji Hyuk struggles to be honest with himself and with Seong Jae.
  • Meanwhile, Seong Hee pressures Yeong Ra to seduce a man from a powerful conglomerate, hoping her daughter can marry into wealth and elevate the family’s status. When Yeong Ra is rejected after a date, Seong Hee lashes out, furious that her daughter didn’t “try hard enough” to win him over.
  • At the same time, Sang Cheol secretly works as a convenience store manager, lying to his family that he’s attending an academy. One evening, Eun Oh stops by the store and is surprised to see him behind the counter, especially when she learns it’s his birthday. Wanting to do something kind, she buys groceries and cooks him a birthday meal.
  • Back at the cafe, Ji Hyuk notices Eun Oh’s absence and grows restless. A coworker mentions she said she’d stop by a convenience store, but hasn’t returned for over an hour. Panicked, Ji Hyuk runs through every store in the area until he spots her singing “Happy Birthday” to a man. He immediately assumes it’s her boyfriend, never discovers that the man is actually her father, Sang Cheol.
  • Finally, Seong Hee receives an unexpected call from the hospital where she and Eun Oh had their health checkups. The doctor informs her that Eun Oh is a match for a liver transplant.
