“Our Golden Days” Episodes 19 & 20 Recap:

  • Sang Cheol sincerely thanks Eun Oh for the birthday surprise, but can’t help wondering why she’s being so kind to him. Eun Oh opens up about her late father, a man who once lost everything to bankruptcy but never stopped working to support his family. Seeing Sang Cheol reminds her of him so much. The two make a promise to share secrets with each other, without asking any questions. On his way home, Sang Cheol hums a tune, thinking this might be one of his best birthdays ever.
  • But Da Jeong catches him on his way back and grows suspicious. She accuses him of having an affair after discovering he’s been lying about attending an academy. She also scolds him for always keeping things from her.
  • Meanwhile, Seong Hee, who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness and urgently needs a liver transplant. Her true intentions are finally revealed: she approached Eun Oh not out of affection, but because she knew Eun Oh was her biological daughter and a potential donor.
  • Rumors start to spread that Eun Oh has a boyfriend, and soon the news reaches Seong Jae. When he confronts her, she quickly clarifies that it’s just a friend, not telling the whole truth that the friend is Sang Cheol.
  • Elsewhere, tensions rise between Sang Cheol and Ji Hyuk. After a heated argument, Sang Cheol packs his things and leaves home. Later, while talking with Eun Oh, he confides that he’s been staying away after fighting with his son. Feeling sympathetic, Eun Oh offers him a temporary place to stay in the attic above the cafe, the same one Ji Hyuk used to live in when he left home after his wedding fell through.
  • As Eun Oh and Ji Hyuk’s business grows, the two begin working on a new project together. But their partnership hits a rough patch when they clash over the cafe’s interior design. Ji Hyuk grows uncharacteristically irritable, criticizing every detail. Finally, Eun Oh bursts out, demanding to know what’s wrong. Without thinking, Ji Hyuk blurts out, “I don’t know what’s wrong with me! Maybe… I like you!”
  • Meanwhile, Yeong Ra continues to spend more time with Ji Wan. Through him, she experiences what it’s like to live like a normal twenty-something, eating tteokbokki, hanging out at karaoke, and reading webtoons. Having lived her entire life under Seong Hee’s shadow, she starts leaving her art behind and embracing this newfound freedom.
  • Later, while working on a cafe renovation project, Ji Hyuk collapses from overwork. Eun Oh rushes him to the hospital and stays by his side until he recovers. After being discharged, Ji Hyuk’s feelings for her only deepen.
  • Seong Hee, still scheming, invites Eun Oh over and shares a carefully crafted version of her past, a story filled with hardship and tragedy. She tells Eun Oh that she grew up in poverty, raising her children alone after her husband’s death, and once lived in a damp basement where water constantly leaked through the walls. Moved by her story, Eun Oh believes every word and begins to admire Seong Hee even more, promising herself to one day become as successful and strong as her.
  • On her way home, Eun Oh spots someone familiar, her best friend Woo Jin, whom she believed had returned to the States long ago. She’s shocked but is certain that it’s really him.
  • It was Woo Jin. He never left Seoul. His real reason for staying, to find his biological mother. Later that night, when Seong Jae arrives home, he finds a stranger at the door. It’s Woo Jin. The two walk into the living room where Yeong Ra, Seong Hee, and Ji Suk are discussing Yeong Ra’s upcoming art exhibition. The moment Woo Jin says, “Hi Mom, it’s me,” everyone freezes, especially Yeong Ra, whose jaw drops in disbelief.

“Our Golden Days” Episode 21 Trailer Breakdown:

Unable to stand watching her brother wander the streets, Eun Oh finally visits him and tells him to come home, even if that means she’ll be the one to leave.

Ji Hyuk, determined to be honest about his feelings, declares that he can no longer treat Eun Oh as just a business partner. He wants things to go back to how they were before, when they were close and comfortable together.

Meanwhile, Yeong Ra is completely shaken when Woo Jin shows up, claiming she’s his mother, a past she’s fought hard to bury to secure her new life with a wealthy man. Cornered and terrified, Yeong Ra coldly asks Woo Jin, “Do you want to live… or die?”
