“Our Golden Days” Episodes 49 & 50 Recap:
- Ji Hyuk is hospitalized, and the doctor delivers devastating news: a heart transplant will not be an easy road ahead. As his condition worsens, his parents and Eun Oh remain by his side, consumed by fear and helplessness as they watch his health slowly deteriorate.
- Eun Oh visits Ji Hyuk every single day, quietly caring for him at his bedside. But despite her devotion, his condition continues to decline. Soon, the situation becomes critical, Ji Hyuk needs an immediate heart transplant. In a moment of heartbreaking desperation, Da Jung begs Sang Cheol to take her life so she can give her heart to their son. To her, a life without Ji Hyuk is no life at all.
- Overwhelmed with guilt, Sang Cheol prays endlessly for his son, regretting the years he spent being harsh and distant. Eun Oh, unable to bear the weight of it all, collapses, haunted by the times she pushed Ji Hyuk away when he needed her most.
- Meanwhile, Seong Hee retreats to the countryside, living under the radar. She works as a server at a small restaurant, quietly targeting unsuspecting customers and manipulating them into lending her large sums of money. Behind Jin Seok’s back, she weaves an elaborate scheme, digging into his personal life and searching for evidence of infidelity to secure a divorce. But Jin Seok has been watching her all along. By auditing her phone, he uncovers everything.
- Cornered and desperate, Seong Hee reaches her breaking point. As a final act, she takes pills outside Jin Seok’s house, intending to die alone in the cold. Jin Seok finds her just in time and rushes her to the hospital, saving her life. When he demands to know what she truly wants, Seong Hee asks only to return to the home she once lived in. Jin Seok agrees but on one condition: she must donate all of her properties and assets to charity.
- As Ji Hyuk’s condition worsens, the hospital urgently calls the entire family. On the way, Sang Cheol is involved in a serious car accident that puts his life in grave danger. He survives but at the same moment, Ji Hyuk receives unexpected news: a donor heart has become available. Ji Hyuk undergoes surgery, and three years pass.
- Ji Hyuk and Eun Oh continue working together at his company, their bond stronger than ever. Their love reaches a new chapter as they marry and welcome a beautiful baby boy into their lives.
- Elsewhere, Su Bin and Seong Jae get married and move in with Jin Seok and Seong Hee. Seong Hee’s life takes a dramatic turn. Under Jin Seok’s strict watch, she lives as a maid in his household sleeping in the guesthouse, living frugally, and carrying out every errand with quiet obedience, even those demanded by her daughter-in-law Su Bin.
- Later, Ji Hyuk and Eun Oh’s families gather to pay tribute to Sang Cheol. The truth finally comes to light: after the car accident, Sang Cheol survived but never regained consciousness. Da Jung was forced to make an impossible choice, keep her husband alive in a vegetative state, or donate his heart to save their son.
- Sang Cheol had already made his decision. In a recorded message left for his family, he gives his consent to donate his heart to Ji Hyuk before he became unconscious. Da Jung loses her husband, but gains her son’s future. Through Sang Cheol’s sacrifice, Ji Hyuk is given a second chance at life and the chance to become a husband, a father, and a man who carries his father’s legacy forward.
