Q. As a rising rookie actor, are there any obstacles that you want to overcome?

A. I always think about how I can have my own unique style as an actor. I want to take after actor Lee Jung Sic, who has defined himself and can’t be replaced by anyone in terms of appearance, charms, and acting.

Q. What do you do in your free time?

A. I like exercising. I usually enjoy a variety of workouts, from cardio to weightlifting exercises at the gym. I’ve been exercising every single day, and it became beyond just my hobby. It is part of my life.

Q. Which Korean dramas or entertainment programs do you enjoy watching?

A. I like KBS “Yu Hui Yeol’s Sketchbook” Originally, I like music related programs, but in “”Yu Hui Yeol’s Sketchbook,” a variety of artists appear to play good songs and have fun talking. Especially when I can’t go outside these days, “Yu Hui Yeol’s Sketchbook” makes me feel like I’m watching a concert.

Q. Is there a role you want to play in the future?

A. I want to play a multi-dimensional character who looks cold on the outside, but is actually the opposite on the inside. I’ve actually imagined that character in detail, like a character who is charismatic, very cynical, quiet, but he’s actually very affectionate and lonely. If I could choose a profession, I would like to try playing a policeman. My childhood dream was to be a police officer, so I really want to act in a role as one.

Q: Were there any fun incidents on set that were memorable?

A.   There was a scene where we were all drunk and asleep in the department office when we filmed Season 2 of “Farmer’s Academy.” I literally fell asleep while acting asleep! When I woke up, I was so surprised that the scene was finished shooting full wide shot, bust shot, close-up shot, and insert shots from all angles. I was so embarrassed and felt terrible about this and asked why no one woke me up, but the director told me that since I was actually asleep, it looked very natural and realistic.

Q: Do you want to say anything to our overseas KOCOWA viewers?

A.   Hello, viewers of KOCOWA! I’m actor Lee Jung Sic. Thank you for supporting my dramas and enjoying them. I will continue to come back with more exciting performances, so please stay tuned! I won’t let you guys down!

Q: Who are your current role models in Asia and Hollywood? How do they motivate you in your career?

A.   I’d like to pick Matthew McConaughey as my role model. I recently watched “Dallas Buyers Club,” and I was deeply impressed by how he delivered his emotions in a delicate and realistic way. Matthew McConaughey spits out lines and emotions not too excessively, but just the way they should be. I don’t really show much emotion or react much while watching movies, but when Matthew McConaughey cried in a scene, I caught myself saying, “How hard would that be?” I want to resemble him a lot.

Q: Tell us about a scene in “Farming Academy” that you hope resonates with viewers more than any other.

A.   At the end of <Farming Academy> Season 2, Haeseung introduces his boyfriend to his friends, and his friends welcome him without any judgement. I hope everyone can remember this scene as much as I do. Aside from homosexuality pride, I thought it would be nice if people are able to put aside their insecurities and live their lives confidently. Sometimes, I feel like I’m also stuck in the obsessive thought,  “How do other people see me?” I wish society would give people more  freedom to speak  out loud and respect anyone’s opinion, just as it is.

Q: Beside your role in “Love With Flaws”, which character did you relate to the most to identify yourself with?

A.   I empathize with the character of “Summer Guys,” Ma Tae Oh, the most. Tae Oh is a friend who has a lot of affection towards people, but due to some circumstances, he does bad things against his will. However, he was able to come back as a good person after spending time with the members of the cocktail bar called “Summer Guys.” This character helped me understand myself better. Of course, I didn’t do anything against my morals, but it reminded me of the past when I couldn’t look around and take care of myself due to pressure to succeed. While playing Tae Oh, I reflected on my past, and it was an opportunity to look closely around, take care of my surroundings, and share gratitude.
