This 38-year-old veteran actor was originally known for his wittiness when playing various supporting roles. However, recently in his work in “Extraordinary Attorney Woo”, he takes step away from supporting role anymore and proved himself to be fit for the leading role. Personally, I’ve already knew he was a star actor, seeing his acting all along but it is a pity that the media has underestimated his acting all this time.

Kang Ki Young made his grand debut in entertainment with the 2009 theater production “Our Bad Magnet.” He decided to expand his career to motion pictures with classics like tvN’s “High School King of Savvy” (2014) and “Daddy You, Daughter Me” (2017). Since then, the 38-year-old actor has earned a spectacular resume with a truckload of K-Dramas and several movies! We know him best from “Oh My Ghost,” “Bring it on, Ghost,” “What’s Wrong With Secretary Kim,” “I Am Not A Robot,” “My Secret Terrius,” and “At Eighteen”.

He has also graced the film world with his presence since 2017 with “On Your Wedding Day,” “Crazy Romance,” and “Exit” as some of his most notable projects. Variety program fans adore his real-life personality! Don’t forget his cast member days on “Village Survival, the Eight,” “RUN” (tvN), hosting tvN’s “Petkage,” and more.

Alongside Kang Ki Young’s awards, the famous actor scored his share of humbling nominations too!  The”28th Buil Film Awards,” “40th “Blue Dragon Film Awards,””56th Grand Bell Awards,” and “25th Chunsa Film Art Awards” all nominated him in the category of Best Supporting Actor. The honors were for the films “Exit” and “Crazy Romance”.

Kang Ki Young’s resume is filled with endless accomplishments that grow more every year, including his marriage to the love of his life in 2019 and the birth of their sweet baby. Before he finishes his hit series “Extraordinary Attorney Woo,”  it’s time to learn more about the University of Suwon graduate featured in the many of the K-Dramas we love.

KOCOWA Talks with Actor Kang Ki Young

Q. Who or what inspired you to act?

A. I think the reason I started acting was when I was deciding my college major. At that time, I then decided to just go for a major I always dreamed of, which was acting. And it started after that.

Q. Is there anything you do whenever you prepare for a new character?

A. To study and embody the character, I tend to purchase a book describing the character and read and learn about it.

Q. How was your experience playing a character in “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok Joo?” This drama is the top favorite drama for past few years on KOCOWA

A. Bok Joo’s immature uncle, Kim Dae Ho, who doesn’t do anything properly, was a character full of naiveness and lovely charm. Every time there was a scene where Bok Joo’s family gathered, I remember laughing endlessly. Thank you so much for your love and support of the show even until now!

Q. Which episodes from “Law of the Jungle” were your favorites?

A. When I was on the show, I wondered, “Will I ever have a chance to sleep in this nature again?” While filming, I caught an eel as big as my leg in the valley. We cooked it by adding oil to the lighting equipment, which was the most memorable experience ever. It was a very unusual experience anyone can have.

Q. What kind of character do you want to play in the future?

A. I don’t have much experience in the action thriller genre, so I want to try it if I have a chance.

Q. What do you do in your free time?

A. When I usually rest, I take a walk with my dog PooPoo and eat boiled eggs with him. LOL, I’m going to be busier now that I have a six-month-old best friend (my little son)

Q. Any words for KOCOWA international fans abroad? Does he know he has a legion of fans on the other side of the world in Brazil?

A. Hello! KOCONUTS and international fans! Thank you so much for your love and support. I am very well aware that Brazilian fans love not only me but also my dear family. I will work extra hard to show you guys what I can do in various different fields. I will meet you guys with great work soon. Thank you, everyone 😊.
