Creepy, thrilling, and terrifying are the keywords for today’s article! If you’ve found your way here, I know you’re looking for Korean drama and movie recommendations perfect to binge-watch with family and friends this Halloween season!

Without giving away any spoilers, I will list 15 shows that feature supernatural elements (such as ghosts, vampires, monsters, and more) so that you can enjoy them to the fullest. Already excited? Let’s start!

Shows Centered On Ghosts

We don’t often come across Korean dramas that are centered on ghosts, but when we do, you can be sure that there will be an incredible concept surrounding them!

Sell Your Haunted House

It’s not Halloween when we won’t mention the spooky ghosts, right? Jang Na Ra and Jung Yong Hwa’s “Sell Your Haunted House” is perfect for this season! It’s a 16-episode series about an exorcist who performs exorcisms on real estates where ghosts appear to sell them and how she joined hands with a con artist to unearth a secret!

Lovely Horribly

In “Lovely Horribly,” we get to see ghosts and mysterious beings in the romantic comedy genre! Park Si Hoo and Song Ji Hyo’s 16-episode series centers on two people who were born at the same time and share the same fate. The thing is, if one person is lucky, the other person is unlucky, now the two people work together, and mysterious things take place around them!

Korean Ghost Stories – 2008

Now, if you’re looking for a very creepy K-Drama that features different stories every episode, then “Korean Ghost Stories” might be the one for you! The 8-episode omnibus drama features folktales that share different traditional customs in the history of South Korea!

The Ghost Detective

Wait, but have you seen a detective and his assistant who solve cases for ghosts? That’s what Choi Daniel and Park Eun Bin’s “The Ghost Detective” is all about! The 16-episode drama series follows the story of a private investigator trying to unravel the mystery behind the death of his assistant’s younger sibling.

“Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum”

If you’re in the mood for a scary movie that will make you feel like you’re actually a part of the scene, this is the one for you. The 2018 film starring Wi Ha Joon is about a vlogging crew for a horror web series that goes to a closed-down asylum for a live broadcast.

Show Me the Ghost

Show Me the Ghost, starring Han Seung Yoon and Kim Hyun Mok, is a lighthearted horror film about two best friends who have been together for 20 years. It’s about two broke friends who move into a house together and discover a ghost is already there. Due to their dire circumstances, they seek the services of a self-proclaimed exorcist in an attempt at exorcism.

Shows Centered on Vampires

Amazingly, there are several vampire-themed K-Dramas that are great for Halloween viewing, and they each have their own unique qualities to offer.

The Scholar Who Walks the Night

Unlike most other vampire shows, this one is actually set in Joseon. In this version of events, the death of his family and best friend transformed the once-loyal and valiant scholar Lee Joon Gi into a bloodthirsty vampire bent on revenge.

Orange Marmalade

A high school setting for a vampire drama? Sign me up! “Orange Marmalade” is set in a time where humans and vampires coexist, because the latter no longer rely on human blood as food, and follows the story of the most popular guy in school who falls for a vampire!

Blood

”Blood” is a vampire drama mixed with the medical genre! Ahn Jae Hyun and Ji Jin Hee’s “Blood” takes place in a medical facility and tells the story of a cold vampire who works as a doctor.

Shows Centered on Zombies

Zombie Detective

Who wouldn’t love a good zombie K-Drama? Choi Jin Hyuk and Park Ju Hyun’s “Zombie Detective” is a great watch if you want a zombie show mixed with comedy! The protagonist is a zombie with no memory of his past who, along with a former journalist, sets out to solve the enigma of zombies.

“Kingdom”

I think this is a zombie show that is perfect to watch with the whole family! It’s a zombie drama set in Joseon about the crown prince who attempts to investigate the mysterious illness recently afflicting the King, only to find himself caught in the middle of a deadly epidemic ravaging the whole kingdom!

Shows Centered on Monsters

This list wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t recommend dark and creepy dramas centered on monsters, whether those monsters are human or actual monster beings!

KBS Drama Special: White Christmas

The subject of whether monsters are made or whether humans are inherently monstrous will be explored in this 2011 Korean drama. “White Christmas” is a story about a series of deaths that occur over the course of eight days at a private, exclusive high school deep in the mountains, where the students are isolated from the rest of the world and are experiencing extreme emotional turmoil.

“Strangers From Hell”

This Lee Dong Wook and Im Si Wan’s K-Drama is one of the most baffling and disturbing K-Dramas I have watched. Set in a small shared dwelling known as Eden Studio, the story follows an aspiring crime fiction writer who moves there and encounters some eerie new neighbors.

“Save Me”

A drama that will show you how evil humans are with the way they manipulate people. Seo Yea Ji, Ok Taecyeon, and Woo Do Hwan’s “Save Me” will give you the right amount of creepiness about a woman and her family who find themselves trapped in a pseudo-religious cult.

“Sweet Home”

”Sweet Home” is a fan-favorite K-Drama starring Song Kang and Lee Jin Wook! The plot centers on a teenager who moves into an apartment building only to have monsters start showing up soon after. Monsters are lurking outside, and the people inside the apartment building know it.

Now that you have reached this part, I hope you already know which K-Dramas and movies you’re going to watch with friends and family this Halloween on KOCOWA!
