“Iron Family” Episodes 17 & 18 Recap:

• Out of pity, Gang Ju’s former colleagues suggest he investigate who sabotaged his reputation by publicly revealing his past wrongdoings on the company bulletin board. Gang Ju discovers the IP address traces back to New York. While pondering this, he recalls that Tae Woong recently visited New York to meet his biological mother. Gang Ju begins to suspect Tae Woong.

• Tae Woong becomes the talk of the town when it’s revealed he owns most of the buildings in the neighborhood and is the biological son of Seung Don. Seung Don confronts Tae Woong, questioning if he was involved in the company bulletin board incident. Tae Woong finds the accusation absurd but recalls his mother advising him to secure his position as Seung Don’s son and bring down Gang Ju. Although it was actually his mother’s doing, Tae Woong admits responsibility.

• The man helping Ji Yeon track the lost money investigates Da Rim’s neighborhood to trace the origin of the 50,000-won bills marked with ‘AA.’ He purposely visits the dry cleaner’s, pays with a check, and receives 50,000 won in return. However, he notices the letters are “HA,” not “AA.” He checks for surveillance cameras at the dry cleaner’s and steals the USB containing the footage.
• Despite being demoted, Gang Ju works diligently on his project and earns acknowledgment from Seung Don. However, this progress crumbles when Seung Don discovers that Gang Ju and Ji Yeon secretly investigate the lost money. Since the money is tied to illegal activities, Seung Don wants nothing to do with it. When he learns Ji Yeon lied again about looking for the money, he becomes furious and tries to leave the house. Ji Yeon shifts the blame onto Gang Ju, claiming it was all his plan. As a result, Gang Ju is kicked out of the house.

• Gang Ju moves into a shabby place, willing to endure it if it would ease Seung Don’s anger. When Gang Ju returns to work, Da Rim informs him that his desk in the hallway is gone, thinking it’s a good sign. Unfortunately, she’s mistaken—Seung Don has ordered Gang Ju to leave the company entirely.
• Mu Rim continues to investigate the case of the missing money tied to Ji Yeon. He persistently follows leads and uncovers clues to solve the mystery.

• Devastated by losing his job, Gang Ju drinks heavily and sleeps on the street near Da Rim’s place. The next morning, he is hungover but becomes alert when he sees Seung Don visiting Tae Woong at Da Rim’s dry cleaner. For a moment, Gang Ju believes Seung Don came to reconcile with him. However, it becomes clear Seung Don is there to meet Tae Woong, leaving Gang Ju heartbroken and in tears. Ji Yeon arrives, finds Gang Ju in despair, and also breaks down, knowing how much Gang Ju admires Seung Don and loves him like a father.

• Mu Rim continues his investigation and requests the guest list from his wedding to account for the large sums of gift money he received, hoping it might provide a clue.
• Da Rim develops genuine feelings for Tae Woong, but he appears to deny them, leaving her more hurt than ever.
• Gang Ju sinks deeper into despair as Seung Don seems entirely focused on defending Tae Woong, who claims responsibility for revealing Gang Ju’s past. This makes Gang Ju feel more isolated and betrayed.
