When Gang Ju confesses his identity and explains the situation—that her mother and grandparents stole the money from his mother Ji Yeon, unknowingly — Da Rim is utterly shocked.
- Da Rim, speechless, drops to her knees and begs Gang Ju to delay taking the money. She pleads, explaining that her grandparents might collapse upon discovering it missing. She promises to ensure all the money is returned but asks for more time. Reluctantly, Gang Ju leaves empty-handed.
- Da Rim is left in tears, grappling with mixed emotions toward her grandparents and her mom. She understands they acted out of desperation to help her regain her eyesight, yet she cannot suppress her resentment for their actions against Gang Ju’s family. Despite their intentions, they had no idea the money belonged to Ji Yeon.
- Tae Woong’s mother has passed away, and despite his unresolved anger toward her, he visits to grieve. At the funeral, he encounters Seung Don, and the two exchange cold looks. Despite her previous betrayal—publicly sabotaging Gang Ju’s reputation to secure an advantage for Tae Woong—he remained ethical and refused to accept the benefits. Seung Don, moved by the letter, begins to soften toward Tae Woong and shares it with him.
- Da Rim later breaks down, apologizing to Gang Ju for the actions of her grandparents and mother, who wronged his family in an effort to save her eyesight. Since then, she has been plagued by nightmares, fearing that her family might face arrest at the hands of Mu Rim, her older brother who is a police officer.
- Da Rim takes the money herself and returns it to Ji Yeon who is currently staying at a hotel with Gang Ju as a temporary home after her divorce with Seung Don. Da Rim is determined to face whatever consequences that might occur after returning the money. Gang Ju tries to stop her but it’s too late.

Despite Gang Ju’s attempts to stop her, Da Rim is resolute. She knows the consequences but is ready to face them. When Da Rim arrives at Ji Yeon’s place to return the money, Gang Ju intervenes. He diverts the conversation, making Ji Yeon believe Da Rim’s visit is to confess their romantic relationship, effectively hiding the truth.
