“Iron Family” Episodes 9 & 10 Recap:

  • Bong Hee hid all the money under the mattress after losing everything in the fire. After years of hard work and sacrifices for her family, she decided to be bold. When the opportunity arose to reclaim the unknown money from the mountain, she seized it and vowed never to let go.
  • Darim finally underwent the eye surgery she had longed for, but Gang Ju is inexplicably worried about her condition. He even visits her unexpectedly. With her eyes still bandaged, Darim mistakenly believes he is Tae Woong. She vents her fears about the surgery, expressing her desire for recognition of her bravery. Caught up in the moment, Gang Ju impulsively kisses her on the forehead. However, Darim still can’t imagine that this is Gang Ju. Unable to speak for fear she might recognize his voice, he rushes outside and shouts, “You did well!” facing her window.
  • Ji Yeon visits her father’s long-time employee to seek help in recovering her missing 10 million dollars, offering a 20% commission in return. He quickly reaches out to his network to track down the large sum.
  • It’s D-day for Da Rim—she’s finally opening her eyes with clear vision. For the first time, she can truly see! She looks closely at each family member, realizing how much time has passed without being able to watch them age. Everyone seems older as if she skipped over the years. Then, at last, her eyes land on Tae Woong, and her heart skips a beat.
  • Ji Yeon returns home after a massive shopping spree, trying to console herself over the loss of so much money. Seung Don finds her actions ridiculous, thinking she’s still clueless about the seriousness of the situation. Ji Yeon feels frustrated, wishing Seung Don would offer her comfort and empathy. But on the other hand, Seung Don is exasperated, feeling she’s out of touch with reality and doesn’t grasp the effort he’s putting in to clean up her mess.
  • Bong Hee is overjoyed that Da Rim’s surgery went smoothly. However, guilt weighs heavily on her about the remaining money hidden under the mattress. She considers returning the stash to its hiding place in the mountains, but Gil Rye and Man Deuk are adamantly against it, urging her to keep quiet.
  • Da Rim cherishes every moment after regaining her eyesight, especially thrilled to finally see Tae Woong. Just thinking about him makes her heart flutter. However, while she’s daydreaming about him, Tae Woong is actually spending time with her older sister, Cha Rim.
  • Bong Hee visits Seung Don again after Da Rim repeatedly questions her about where the surgery money came from. Believing he’s the only credible person Da Rim would believe she borrowed a large sum from, Bong Hee asks Seung Don to tell Da Rim it was his money if she comes to thank him. When Seung Don refuses, Bong Hee threatens to reveal his first love affair, which could embarrass him, and he reluctantly agrees.
  • Da Rim is finally discharged from the hospital and, for the first time, walks home without her white cane. On her way, she crosses paths with Gang Ju but doesn’t recognize him, mistaking him for a stranger. Gang Ju feels a little hurt by her lack of acknowledgment.
  • Seung Don receives another email from his first love, this time with a photo of a young man who turns out to be Tae Woong! Tae Woong, raised in an orphanage, works diligently at Da Rim’s family dry cleaner to support himself. Both Cha Rim and Da Rim are interested in him, but Cha Rim dismisses him as a potential partner due to his financial situation. However, things might change if it’s revealed that he’s the biological son of a wealthy family. Meanwhile, Tae Woong and Gang Ju harbor a deep animosity toward each other, with Da Rim caught in the middle.
  • Da Rim struggles to find a job due to her lack of experience, facing rejection after rejection. To make matters worse, she suffers from a side effect in her left eye, causing her to blink repeatedly, which others mistakenly interpret as winking.
  • Seung Don visits Da Rim’s family dry cleaner and is stunned to see Tae Woong, who looks exactly like the boy in the photo, suggesting he could be his biological son. Trying to confirm, Seung Don discreetly takes Tae Woong’s straw from his coffee to run a DNA test. The results reveal that Tae Woong is indeed his son.
  • Despite multiple rejections, Da Rim finally lands a job as a delivery driver, transporting drinks to various locations. She works tirelessly, determined to pay back the money she believes was borrowed for her surgery—unaware that the debt doesn’t actually exist.
  • Seung Don confronts Tae Woong with the DNA results and bluntly tells him to inform his mother that nothing will change, even now that they know they’re biologically related. Seung Don assumes his first love only reached out with Tae Woong’s photo because they’re after his money. Tae Woong, however, is completely blindsided, having no idea about any of this.
