I think you all heard that EXO Doh Kyung Soo and Lee Se Hee are starring in a new KBS legal drama and the first two episodes has made their premiere a few days ago. And now, the golden question is “Is it worth it to check out this new K-Drama?” but before that, let’s make a recap of the first two episodes and talk about how much I enjoyed every moment while watching it!
Oh, the recap will be full of *SPOILERS* so if you haven’t watched it yet, you can scroll down below to the part where I’m answering the question of whether this drama would be for you or not!
“Bad Prosecutor” Episode 1 Recap
The Pilot Episode Started with a BANG + Meet The Leads
The first episode started with the introduction of the villains and a grand entrance of our main lead, the crazy and chaotic prosecutor Jin Jung! We saw how he saved a CEO from getting arrested and a few moments later, we found out that he did that to gain his trust to find the ledger. A big brain move!
Minutes later, we also met our female lead who is the senior prosecutor, Shin A Ra! She’s a sunbae of Jin Jung who’s looking after him because she knows that he doesn’t listen to anyone else.
In order to get to know Jin Jung more, the drama showed us flashbacks showing that Jin Jung is not an ordinary kid. He is great at Kendo and is righteous even from the start. That’s why he found his calling to be a Prosecutor. He’s really one-of-a-kind because he’s the only one who wore a tracksuit with a kendo stick and was late to his oath-taking!
Jin Jung Investigating The Assault and Murder Case
Now that the show has introduced us to our two main leads, it’s now time to go to the legal genre of this drama! Jin Jung has received a new case to investigate and it’s about the assault and murder case of Park Ye Young.
While investigating and interrogating the murder suspect, Jin Jung noticed that the case was fishy since all of the evidence is pointing out to the suspect so he decided to dive deeper and study more about the case. While attending a team dinner, he found crucial evidence pointing out that the man who turned himself is not the real killer!
While investigating more, he met a corrupt cop who was bribed, kidnapped him (YES, he really did that!), and made him confess to what he did to the deleted files.
The Aftermath
It is now a hot topic that the prosecution is still not pressing charges against the murder suspect and the public is now enraged so the Chief Deputy Prosecutor has taken Jin Jung off the case. He asked his colleague, Dohwan to delay the trial but it turns out that he’s on the Chief Deputy’s side!
The Deputy Chief will be promoted as the new District Head Prosecutor and the ‘not really killer’ delivery man was ruled guilty because Do Hwan asked for an early indictment. After hearing the news, Jin Jung went to the Prosecutor’s Office only to find out that he has limited access so his ID won’t work but that doesn’t stop him from going and confronting him.
After confronting Do Hwan, A Ra and Jin Jung now know his true colors: someone who will use people to climb up the ladder even if it means getting his hands dirty.
AND THE EPISODE ALSO ENDED WITH A BANG. Jin Jung punched Do Hwan and said “I’m going to take you all down!” AND that’s a very powerful pilot episode!
“Bad Prosecutor” Episode 2 Recap
For the second episode, things were a lot better, and let me tell you why!
After Jin Jung punched Dohwan, the Deputy Chief Prosecutor saw this and slapped Jin Jung saying he disrespected the prosecutor’s office. This action led him to be demoted to the Civil Affairs Division.
Jin Jung Getting Demoted
After being demoted he met Park Jae Kyung, the head of the Civil Affairs Division. Jin Jung’s loyal friend, Chul Ki also asked to be transferred to this division so the two are now working together again!
After Jin Jung confronted Park Jae Kyung saying why he only does petty tasks, Jae Kyung shared that the reason why this division is called the garbage disposal office is that they want disobedient prosecutors who get transferred here to quit on their own.
Despite having a hard time in this division, it doesn’t stop Jin Jung from investigating the Park Ye Young murder case that’s why he was able to get another crucial piece of evidence connecting the victim to a hostess bar.
New Characters: Unlocked
The drama introduced us to two new characters who are both interconnected to Jin Jung! The two are working undercover to gather more evidence on the gangster who’s also the owner of the hostess bar.
Thanks to the new characters, Eun Ji and Joong Do, the Jin Jung team gathered new evidence connecting the case to the Chief Deputy Prosecutor. He was the last person that the victim met before she died.
A Ra Joining Hands with Jin Jung
Chief Prosecutor Kim asked A Ra to also investigate the murder case but they are one step behind the Jin Jung team. Chief Deputy knows that Chief Prosecutor Kim is investigating behind his back and is now angry with him so A Ra went to meet Jin Jung and offered that she wants to team up with him. Jin Jung agreed as long as that started now, they will do everything in his way: THE JIN JUNG CHAOTIC WAY
The gangster, Yu Jin Cheol is now leaving the country and A Ra helped Jin Jung out of the prosecution’s office. Jin Jung’s team was almost outsmarted by Jin Cheol and Dohwan but they realized that they could be at the airport.
Jin Cheol has now boarded the plane and they are ready for takeoff but that won’t stop Jin Jung from doing everything to make sure to stop the plane. He said there is still a way and called customer service that there is a bomb on the plane to make sure it won’t take off.
The Jin Jung team got Jin Cheol after a series of chases and fighting and Jin Jung also was taken by airport security when they found out he is the one who made the fake phone call.
This is How You End An Episode
The inauguration day of the Chief Deputy has come and Jin Jung also has something on his sleeves. He was below the podium when the Chief Deputy was giving his speech. He pinched and took the mic away from him saying he planned to expose the rotten prosecutor’s office by arresting Deputy Chief Lee!
Should I Watch “Bad Prosecutor?”
Now that you know that I really watched the first two episodes, we’re now on the golden question of whether I recommend this or not and the answer is YES!
“Bad Prosecutor” has comedy, mystery, thriller, and action ALL in one drama. I have watched a lot of legal dramas and I never encountered a crazy and chaotic prosecutor just like Jin Jung. He’s not your ordinary prosecutor because he’s willing to go to lengths to the bottom of everything. It is so fun meeting a character like him.
To those who loved strong female leads, I think you would love this drama too. Shin A Ra is a powerful prosecutor and is a girl crush! I also love her dynamics with Jin Jung even though she’s experiencing stress because of him.
I really enjoyed the first two episodes and I’m sure this drama will be a lot more chaotic in the next episodes. I’ll be ending this blog article with my favorite line from Jin Jung and make sure to watch “Bad Prosecutor” on KOCOWA!
