As we enter 2026, it also means we are finally getting ready to welcome back our favorite Korean celebrities who enlisted in the military in 2024 and 2025. After completing their mandatory service, they will officially return this year, and we could not be more excited!
For those who are new to Korean entertainment, here is a quick overview of military service. In South Korea, all able-bodied men are required to enlist by the age of 28. This usually includes those born in 1996 and 1997, although there are rare exemptions for individuals who excel internationally in sports or the arts. However, for actors and idols, exemptions are extremely uncommon.
Male Celebrities Who Will Be Discharged This Year
NCT Jaehyun
First on the list is NCT’s Jaehyun, who is officially making his long-awaited return this year! Jaehyun enlisted on November 4, 2024, fulfilling his mandatory military service, and is scheduled to be discharged on May 3, 2026. He is known not only for his visuals and vocals but also for his warm and charismatic personality, especially when he appeared in the reality show “NCT Life in Gapyeong,” where we got to see a more relaxed and playful side of him alongside his fellow members!
SEVENTEN Jeonghan
SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan is also set to reunite with fans this year! Jeonghan enlisted on September 26, 2024, to fulfill his mandatory military service and is scheduled to be discharged on June 25, 2026. Before enlisting, Jeonghan appeared in the reality show “NANA TOUR with SEVENTEEN,” where we get to see more of his gentle personality, quick wit, and his bond with his fellow members. The show highlighted Jeonghan’s soft leadership, playful teasing, and caring nature, reminding we he is such a beloved member.
Kim Woo Seok
Our favorite idol actor, Kim Woo Seok, is also completing his military service this year! He enlisted on November 11, 2024, and is expected to be discharged on May 3, 2026. Having built a solid career both as an idol and an actor, Kim Woo Seok’s return is highly anticipated by everyone! Before his enlistment, Kim Woo Seok appeared in “Boys Mental Training Camp,” a reality program that showed a more honest and vulnerable side of him. The show allowed us to see more of his thoughtful and endearing personality.

Since we’re welcoming back some Korean celebrities this year, it also means we have to say goodbye to our favorite actors and K-Pop idols who have to enlist soon.
Kim Young Dae
Kim Young Dae, born in 1996, is one of the celebrities expected to enlist this year. Over the years, he has steadily proven himself as the next generation’s leading man, gaining attention for his charm and emotional acting. Recently, he starred in “To The Moon,” where he showcased a more mature performance as a director who has dreams of becoming a musician.
Kang Daniel
One of the most loved K-Pop idols, Kang Daniel, is also expected to fulfill his military duty in February 9, 2026. Known not only as a successful solo artist but also as a beloved variety show regular, Kang Daniel has always shown a relatable and down-to-earth side. He was so loved when he appeared in “It’s Dangerous Beyond the Blankets,” where his shy yet playful personality made him even more endearing.
Lee Jun Young
Lee Jun Young, born in 1997, is also among those expected to enlist in 2026. Jun Young is known both in the K-Pop and K-Drama industry as he has consistently impressed viewers with his intense and convincing performances. One of his standout roles was in “Brave Citizen,” where he showed a darker and more powerful side that left a strong impression!
Lee Jung Ha
Lastly, there is Lee Jung Ha, who has been loved by many for his recent role in a superhero drama, thanks to his refreshing presence and strong performances. Even though he is a 1998 liner, he already enlisted in the military last January and is currently serving in the Marine Corps. His appearance in the movie “Victory” further highlighted his ability to adapt to different genres and characters, making him one of the next leading actors to truly look forward to.
