Imagine a drama with a star-studded cast, like the ones with huge budgets–the highly-acclaimed “Goblin” and “Descendants of the Sun.” The current cast is good as it is, but it makes us wonder, what would it be like if it was the same for “Extra-ordinary You“?
Eun Dan-Oh
The only daughter of a wealthy family. Eun Dan-Oh also suffers from heart disease and doesn’t have much time left to live. She was “supposed” to have a crush on her fiance Baek Kyung, but after finding out that she’s nothing more than an extra character in the manhwa, she decides to change her predetermined fate.
Suitable candidates: Park Bo-Young, Kim Seul-Gi.
Park Bo-Young is a cute girl who could make all her roles adorable and funny! She could probably portray Eun Dan-Oh with really cutesy vibes. That would be a completely new Eun Dan-Oh. And have you seen Kim Seul-Gi in “Splash Splash Love“? She could definitely nail a comical character like Eun Dan-Oh at ease.
Ha-Roo, also known as Number 13
A nameless student who was created just to make up the numbers in the class. As Eun Dan-Oh interacts with him more, he becomes self-aware and begins doing things at his own will.
Suitable candidates: Park Bo-Gum, Seo Ji-Hoon.
Ha-Roo is a poor, yet handsome boy that didn’t even have a name. Doe-eyed and gentle actors like Park Bo-Gum and Seo Ji-Hoon could create a character that evokes sympathy easily!
Baek Kyung
Eun Dan-Oh’s fiance. The boy has an extremely bad temper, a typical bad boy character that treats his girl badly.
Suitable candidates: Kim Jung-Hyun, Seo Kang-Joon.
Oh, a typical bad boy character. Kim Jung-Hyun acted as a rebellious student in “School 2017” and an arrogant, rude chaebol in “Time.” The character Baek Kyung is a mix of both, there’s no doubt Kim Jung-Hyun would be able to portray this character well with his experience in such roles. As for Seo Kang-Joon, his role in “Cheese in the Trap” shows that he could also be really suited for this role too.
Yeo Joo-Da
A female student who came from a poor family. She’s always getting bullied but remains optimistic and kind at heart. A Cinderella-like character that’s the main character in the manhwa.
Suitable candidates: Chae Soo-Bin, Jo Woo-Ri.
Chae Soo-Bin‘s role in “I Am Not a Robot” showed how she could portray both an emotionless humanoid robot and an emotion-filled human girl. Could she play the role of a typical Cinderella-like character well? No doubt about that!
Jo Woo-Ri played as the popular girl in school who seemed all pure-hearted and innocent in “My ID is Gangnam Beauty.” A real pure-hearted character like Yeo Joo-Da would fit her so well.
Lee Do-Hwa
The second male lead of the manhwa. Like a typical second male lead, the boy is always protecting and helping the female lead of the manhwa like a guardian angel. Despite gaining self-awareness, Lee Do-Hwa still loves Yeo Joo-Da and wants to be with her.
Suitable candidates: Yook Sung-Jae, Ji Soo.
If you have watched “Who Are You,” you’ve most likely suffered from second lead syndrome because of Yook Sung-Jae. That was undoubtedly one of the most painful second lead syndromes to have in K-drama history.
And why Ji Soo? You might ask.
…This poor guy just never gets the girl in most of his dramas.
Oh Nam-Joo
The main male lead of the manhwa. A cold, arrogant boy who is from a rich family. He has never not gotten what he wanted, he assumes it would be the same for the person he loves and covets, Yeo Joo-Da.
Suitable candidates: Jang Ki-Yong, Woo Do-Hwan.
Jang Ki-Yong has played two very contrasting characters. In “My Mister,” he played a gangster capable of beating up a young, weak girl for her attention. In “Come and Hug Me,” he played a gentle detective who would do anything to protect his lover. Oh Nam-Joo is a mix of these two characters, Jang Ki-Yong would nail it so well.
In “Tempted,” Woo Do-Hwan portrayed a rich playboy who breaks hearts. Those bad boy vibes were overflowing in that drama.
“Jinmiche,” the “Dried Squid Fairy”
A mysterious cook who has lots of secrets that he doesn’t wish to reveal.
Suitable candidates: Ha Seok-Jin, Lee Jun-Ho.
To be honest, Jinmiche seems like a good-looking guy who cooks well–since he’s almost always in the kitchen! Ha Seok-Jin portrayed a good-looking guy who could do housework and cook well in “My House Helper” and Lee Jun-Ho made hearts flutter with his role as a chef in “Wok of Love“! They would be a good fit!
