Shin Sung-Rok is the new member of “Master in the House“! The actor made his very first variety appearance last year as a 1-day apprentice on the show and had everyone surprised with how cheerful he is, which is in contrast to the dark and evil roles (“The Last Empress” and “Return“) he had taken up in the past.
Through an interview, the PD of “Master in the House,” Lee Se-Young, mentioned that Shin Sung-Rok had good chemistry with the rest and was a fresh character when he first appeared on the show. The PD also said that it was nice seeing him working hard as one of the members, and not a guest.
Here’s why we also think Shin Sung-Rok is a nice addition to the show!
His positivity (Episode 102).
It’s always good to have someone who looks on the brighter side of things every time. Shin Sung-Rok is one example of that!
The members gave him a challenge. He had to do the “Elephant Spin” 10 times and eat a whole lemon after. Shin Sung-Rok choked on the juice on his first time and spat the fruit out. On his second attempt, he managed to eat the lemon after coughing a few times. He seemed to be struggling to eat the sour fruit, but it only took him a second to smile and tell the members, “My cold has been cured.”
And needless to say, wearing that “Lightning Man” costume wasn’t embarrassing for him at all. Instead, he fell in love with it and refused to get changed into normal clothes when Lee Seung-Gi wanted him to do so.
With him, Lee Sang-Yun feels more relaxed (Episode 103).
Dancing or any other physical activities would leave Lee Sang-Yun at a loss while the other members, Lee Seung-Gi, Yook Seong-Jae, and Yang Se-Hyeong, excel at them. Lee Sang-Yun had been left behind most of the time no matter how hard he tried in the past. But with the new member Shin Sung-Rok who also tries hard but can’t seem to dance well, Lee Sang-Yun revealed that he felt more relaxed because he had company.
He makes rather… rash decisions (Episode 105).
Without thinking much, Shin Sung-Rok threw away his protective gear and agreed to let the professional MMA fighter Kim Dong-Hyun kick his thigh without it. Of course, that was a mistake that he regretted almost immediately after.
The new variety star might have called it a flaw, but his rash decisions contributed to many more precious comedic moments on the show that gave us so much laughter.
You can watch dramas that Shin Sung-Rok starred in on KOCOWA. Here is a list of the dramas that he has done.
