To all K Pop fans out there, did you know that SM Entertainment, yes the company home to Girls’ Generation, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT, aespa, and more, is teaming up with the production company eggiscoming for a brand new reality show?

The title already feels nostalgic and instantly reminds us of the popular “Reply Series.” The show also gives off a similar vibe as we get to see the trainees experience and reflect the eras of SM Entertainment singers and idol groups, from first generation artists up to today.

Why To Look Forward To “Reply High School?”

Reality Variety Show Revolving Around Trainees

“Reply High School” has a fun and refreshing concept where 15 male trainees enter the fictional Woojeong (Friendship) High School. The school is divided into classes themed around the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s. It is exciting to see them grouped this way because through their lessons and daily school life, they get to experience and fully immerse themselves in the culture of each era.

All of these trainees were born between the 2000s and 2010s, so it will be interesting to see how they react to and enjoy learning about generations they did not personally experience. Through this journey, we will also witness their growth as they move closer to theiring! debut.

As someone who has been a fan of Korean music for years, I am especially excited about the different class themes based on the 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s.

These 15 trainees are known as SMTR25 and were first introduced last year during SMTOWN Live in Seoul for the company’s 30th anniversary. Since then, they have performed on various SMTOWN stages around the world, including Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, and more.

“Reply High School” explores the timeline of K culture and is led by producer Shin Hyo Jung and writer Kim Dae Joo. They are known for creating “NANA bnb with SEVENTEEN” and “NANA TOUR with SEVENTEEN,” which already showed us what kind of show we will be seeing!

Surprise Appearances From SMTown Artists

Another exciting part of the show is the surprise guest appearances from SMTown artists. In the main teaser, we already see senior artists like Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and Heechul joking around and talking with the trainees. TVXQ’s Changmin also appears to give heartfelt advice, showing the warm senior junior chemistry that we fans love to see.

Seeing K-Pop Idols In A New Light

We are used to seeing K-Pop idols looking polished and perfect on stage and television, but this variety show lets us see a more raw and relatable side of them. As trainees who are still new to the industry, we get to see their awkward moments, shy reactions, and genuine personalities.

Watching them navigate being in front of the camera, making mistakes, and learning along the way makes them even more endearing. Their passion and determination to debut truly shine through.

I am really excited to meet all 15 trainees, as well as the unrevealed trainees, as a longtime fan of K-Pop and SM Entertainment artists. Don’t worry about where to watch, because “Reply High School” will be available for streaming on KOCOWA+.
