Synopsis
Starring Park Ju Hyun, Kim Young Dae, and Kim Woo Seok, “The Forbidden Marriage” is a fusion historical romantic comedy K-drama adapted from a popular web novel of the same name.
Set in the Joseon dynasty, the drama follows King Lee Heon, who issued a marriage ban after the death of the crown princess 7 years ago when he was still a crown prince, and con artist So Rang, who claims to be able to channel the spirit of the late crown princess!
Meet The Characters
Park Ju Hyun as Ye So Rang
Park Ju Hyun (“Zombie Detective“) will take on the role of the matchmaker and swindler, Ye So Rang. She is described as cheerful and lovely! After getting arrested and jailed, she pretends to be possessed by a spirit in front of officer Lee Shin Won by mentioning that the spirit of King Lee Heon’s late wife exists within the royal palace.
When Ye So Rang is brought before the king, she begins acting as though the king’s late wife has taken possession of her body, and her lies get ever more outrageous.
Kim Young Dae as Lee Heon
Kim Young Dae (“The Penthouse,” “Extra-ordinary You“) is set to play King Lee Heon who still hasn’t moved on from his first love, the crown princess who died 7 years ago. He is described as a character full of sweet charm and a person who will do anything for the woman that he loves.
The King of Korea, Lee Heon, has been single for the past seven years, during which time members of the royal family and the government have made repeated attempts to have him remarry. The nation has also implemented a geumhonryung edict, which puts a ban on all single women who can’t marry while the king isn’t married yet and the people are furious over the marriage ban. One day, King Lee Heon hears of a woman named Ye So Rang, who claims the spirit of the king’s late wife exists within the royal palace.
Kim Woo Seok as Lee Shin Won
Kim Woo Seok (“Military Prosecutor Doberman”) will play Lee Shin Won, Uigeumbu Dosa (member of the judiciary organ), and the eldest son of Yeonguijeong (Chief State Councillor). He is a person with a sweet charm that is both coldhearted and warm even if he looks indifferent. His character is described as someone who will make women’s hearts flutter.
Yang Dong Geun
Yang Dong Geun is set to play the Minister of War, Jo Sung Gyun.
Park Sun Young
Park Sun Young will play Ye Hyun Ho’s concubine, Seo Woon Jung.
Choi Duk Moon
Choi Duk Moon will play a character who helps out So Rang and is on her side.
Kim Min Ju
Kim Min Ju will play Crown Princess Ahn.
