Who is excited for this new show? Because I am! “My Perfect Stranger” will replace the time slot after “Oasis” and is already a highly anticipated show with a very unique storyline.
Travel Back in Time, “My Perfect Stranger”
“My Perfect Stranger,” starring Kim Dong Wook and Jin Ki Joo, is a story about a reporter and a writer being placed in the past and is trapped in 1987. They both search for the truth of past serial murders, and in the process of it, they both realize that their goals are somewhat connected to each other.
In the released trailer, warning phrases such as “SYSTEM ERROR” and “CAUTION” are drawing attention, and Kim Dong Wook, who looks urgent while driving, and Jin Ki Joo, who is lying down, suggest that the relationship began due to an “unexpected accident.”
In the background of the retro look, there is the phrase “We just arrived in 1987, and there is no way back,” and hear Kim Dong Wook’s words, “I’m trapped here,” a police line appears to announce the scene of the incident and a person who is bleeding, signaling that what the two have to solve in 1987 is a murder case.
The production team started to pay close attention to who the culprit of the incident will be through the meaningful clues that appear in the drama.
Who are the Characters?
Yoon Hae Joon (Kim Dong Wook)
A former broadcaster anchor.
Cool-headed, quick-witted, straightforward. Rather than say it in a roundabout way,
it’s his style to dig straight into the core.
He does have a warm heart, but he also has a childish, crooked, and cynical side. When he was a kid, he suffered from not having adequate affection and love from his family. His mother ran away right after she gave birth to Hae Joon. His grandfather who raised him wasn’t that caring either. He always perceives Hae Joon as the flaw of the family. Hae Joon was consistently criticized and rebuked, which finally led him to turn his back away from everything. Hae Joon at least had a loving father who lived overseas because of his job and visited Hae Joon during Christmas time.
That didn’t mean that he lived a life full of defiance or deficiency. It was purely his belief that Hae Joon chose to be a “journalist, and he truly thrived at what he did. He won the Journalist of the Year twice and really pushed through to go up even higher, becoming an anchor that overall gained him such a positive reputation. He was very much aware of how successful he was and was really enjoying his life until he found this strange time machine…
Baek Yoon Young (Jin Ki Joo)
An ordinary employee as a publisher and an editor.
She has endured all the stress for 6 years now from her boss, who gave her a hard time all the time. Due to this, her stress level is very sensitive to every little thing. She cannot express anger to her boss and always wears a smiling face at the workplace, but when at home, Yoon Young becomes her true self, especially to her mother, whom she expresses anger and frustrations to day in and day out.
It was an ordinary day when Yoon Young had again had such a tiring day at work, came home, and lashed out at her mother. But she never thought that this uncomfortable conversation would be the last one that she would ever have with her mother. Because her mother was found dead in a small village river.
Yoon Young loses herself in tears and trips, coincidently following Hae Joon into the past…
