SBS’s new Friday–Saturday drama “Queen Mantis” premieres tonight and will be available on KOCOWA+.

This high-intensity crime thriller begins over 20 years after the notorious serial killer “Mantis” was caught, when a series of copycat murders suddenly emerges. To solve the case, a detective is forced into an unexpected joint investigation with the very person he’s despised his whole life, his mother, the original “Mantis.”
“Queen Mantis” is already drawing buzz for its unique premise of a serial killer mother and her detective son working together, and for bringing together stars Ko Hyun Jung (as Jung I Sin) and Jang Dong Yoon (as Cha Su Yeol).
Ahead of the premiere, new stills were released, showing the tense reunion between serial killer mother Jung I Sin (Ko Hyun Jung) and her detective son, Cha Su Yeol (Jang Dong Yoon), after 23 years.
When Detective Meets Killer: A Mother–Son Face-Off

In the photos, Su Yeol is seen arriving with fellow officer Choi Jung Ho (Jo Sung Ha). His expression is a storm of emotions, anger, unease, and fear. The reason for his turmoil soon becomes clear: seated before him is none other than his mother, the infamous “Mantis,” whom he has hated his entire life. Jung I Sin’s expression as she faces her grown son after 23 years is equally complex.
The production team shared, “This reunion is not a tearful embrace between a mother and son longing for each other. It’s a meeting where suspicion never lets go, making it all the more tense and chilling.” They added, “Since this scene plays such a pivotal role in the story, Ko Hyun Jung and Jang Dong Yoon gave it everything, fully immersing themselves in the raw and fierce emotions. We ask for viewers’ anticipation and support.”
