“Stove League” – Baseball
Looking for a sports K-Drama with an underdog story? Meet the Best Drama of the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards, “Stove League!” Starring Namkoong Min and Park Eun Bin, “Stove League” centers on a Korean professional baseball team that has placed last in the league for the past four seasons and their new General Manager, who helped them get back on their feet.
There are a thousand reasons why it’s a must-watch drama, and one of those is the execution of the storyline and Namkoong Min’s award-winning performance as Baek Sung Soo (Yes, he even won a Daesang for this role!).
Some might think that sports K-Dramas are boring, but “Stove League” is the opposite! It’s a fast-paced worthwhile 16-episode baseball-themed K-Drama that will keep you on the edge of your seat because of the storytelling, cliffhangers, and intense scenes!
“Puck” – Ice Hockey
Not in the mood to watch a sports K-Drama with 16-episode? I got you! Let me introduce Lee Kwang Soo’s 2 episode action sports drama “Puck“! “Puck” tells the story of a guy who had no choice but to work as a loan shark for a gang boss to pay his wife’s debt. He joins the ice hockey team to get the debt from the ice hockey coach!
It’s a memorable sports drama that will make you laugh, cry, and feel emotional because it’s a story of growth, determination, and teamwork! Oh, and it also showed how outstanding an actor Lee Kwang Soo is!
“Twenty Five Twenty One” – Fencing
Need a sport coming of age story? I highly recommend Kim Tae Ri and Nam Joo Hyuk’s “Twenty Five Twenty One”.
Brilliant storytelling that follows the story of National Fencer Na Hee Do and the people around her life. Really a great coming-of-age story between five youth and how they handle the stabs, parries, and triumphs of life. I really enjoyed the fencing storyline between the two National fencers, Na Hee Do and Ko Yu Rim. Starting as each other’s rivals and becoming the best of friends is one of the best things that gave more flavor to the drama.
“Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo” – Weightlifting & Swimming
2016 was really THAT year for K-Dramas because it gave us this iconic romantic comedy sports drama! “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo,” which stars Lee Sung Kyoung and Nam Joo Hyuk, will forever be known as one of the best rom coms!
I smile whenever I think about this drama because it’s really a great romantic comedy coming-of-age sports drama that talks about friendship and has probably one of the best chemistries I have seen. Even now, there are still a lot who can’t move on from this pairing. It’s been years since I first watched this, but I can still remember how this drama was so chaotic that I kept on laughing and giggling every episode.
“To The Beautiful You” – High Jump
When I was relatively new to K-Dramas, this was one of the first K-Dramas I loved. The youth sports romance “To The Beautiful You” stars Sulli and SHINee Minho! It is a coming-of-age story about a girl who disguised herself as a boy and enrolled at an all-male high school to help her idol athlete after experiencing an injury!
This is one of the first K-Dramas that solidified my love for K-Dramas, and I can still remember how I enjoyed every episode because it focused on sports and friendship! If you’re looking for a fun and light vibes drama, then I think this would be for you! PS. Minho is as cute and hot as Tae Joon!
“Just Dance” – Dance Sports
It’s not a K-Drama without amazing friendships that achieve their goals together! “Just Dance” is an underrated teenage drama about six high schoolers who joined a dance sports club to win an international competition!
It stars Park Se Wan, Jang Dong Yoon, and Kim Kap Soo! “Just Dance” is a heartwarming, relatable, and enjoyable story that will show you the struggles of different individuals who will do everything they can to achieve their dream. AND I also enjoyed Jang Dong Yoon and Park Se Wan’s chemistry! The two did so well in this drama despite being a rookie!
“No Limit” – Soccer
A one-of-a-kind sports drama starring TVXQ Yunho and Go Ara! I really enjoyed how it’s a drama about second chances. “No Limit” centers on the story of a man who dreams of playing soccer for the premier league in England and how he falls for a soccer agent who tries to live her life away from the influence of her wealthy father.
Yunho really showed a different side of himself when he played a soccer player, and I really enjoyed his pairing with Go Ara.
“Love All Play” – Badminton
Meet one of the most loved ongoing K-Dramas right now, Park Ju Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop sports romance “Love All Play,” a sports romance drama about the passion and affectionate love between a male and female in a team of mixed-doubles badminton players.
When I first watched this drama, it really reminded me of my past favorite K-Dramas like “Weightlifting Fairy, Kim Bok-joo“. It’s effortless to watch because of its fun vibes, and you can’t help but root for the main leads’ story after knowing their hardships. One of the best things about this drama is Ju Hyun and Jong Hyeop’s out-of-this-world chemistry!
“Wild Romance” – Baseball & Judo
starred in a baseball-themed K-Drama “Wild Romance” alongside Lee Si Young! A love story between a baseball team star player and a stubborn bodyguard-by-trade who hates him because she’s a fan of his rival!
Yes, it’s an enemy to the friends-to-lovers story! But for people who love enemies-to-lovers, your golden! This is really one of the classic K-Dramas I enjoyed watching because of Lee Dong Wook. I was a big fan of his, which led me to watch this drama and it was an amazing experience!
There are really a lot of enjoyable sports-themed K-Dramas, and I’m sure you have already decided what to watch next by reaching this part. If you’re going to ask me, I highly recommend you start with “Stove League” by watching it on KOCOWA, and I’m 100% sure you’ll enjoy it!
