Did you want more after the riveting finale of “Taxi Driver 2”? Well, the producers are making it happen! On April 16th, they confirmed they were already working on season three and negotiating with the cast, director, and screenwriter. Not giving fans another season would’ve been a missed opportunity since season two got better ratings than one.

In fact, research institute Gallup Korea conducted a survey of Korea’s favorite April shows and “Taxi Driver 2” came out on top. It beat out dramas like Netflix’s international sensation “The Glory” and TV CHOSUN’s “Mr. Trot 2”. The reason could be Taxi Driver 2’s cathartic nature. It mirrors real crimes that have happened in South Korea, advocates for victims and even utilizes humor. The drama is both a light and a heavy watch, so perhaps that’s why audiences love it so much. The Rainbow Taxi crew is a joy to watch too.

The last episode had the highest ratings of any miniseries this year, so I’m glad the producers decided to keep the good times rolling.

Fan Theories, Predictions, and Wishes

A lot of things happened in season two. We were introduced to On Ha Joon (Shin Jae Ha) a new Rainbow Taxi employee who turned out to be a major antagonist. He became a fan favorite because of his bright smile and dark past, but his storyline ended pretty decisively.

Then there were the cameos by popular actresses Kim So Yeon and Moon Chae Won. Kim So Yeon (known for playing Cheon Seo Jin in “Penthouse”) blew everyone away when she raced onto the scene in a deluxe taxi to save Do Ki and the gang from the bad guys. Mr. Jang reveals she was Do Ki’s predecessor, and I swear I gasped. A lot of fans want a prequel showing how she met Mr. Jang and became Rainbow Taxi’s first avenging driver. If that’s not possible, I’d settle for her working on a mission with Do Ki in season three.

When it comes to Moon Chae Won, she’s actually reprising her role as Park Jun Kyung from another SBS drama called “Payback: Money and Power”. Her and Do Ki lock eyes when he goes to an army base to investigate a potential case. She salutes him, but he walks right past her. They clearly have history, but the drama doesn’t reveal anything, leading many to believe Park Jun Kyung will appear in season three.

My guess is Do Ki and Jun Kyung had romantic feelings for each other before his mother was murdered and he developed PTSD. She may have abandoned him or let him down in his time of need which would explain the frosty meeting. Either way, I’m dying to know. Will it develop into a temporary love triangle with Go Eun? Speaking of our favorite hacker, will she and Do Ki officially confess their mutual crushes?

There are so many storylines that could develop in Taxi Driver 3 and I’m excited to see all of them. What are you excited to see and what are your fan theories, wishes, and predictions?

At the moment, there isn’t a release date for season three, but you can relive all your favorite moments by watching Taxi Driver and Taxi Driver 2 on KOCOWA+.
