So far, spring has been cold and dreary in my neck of the woods. ‘Battle of the Dramas’ is exactly what I need to get some heat and excitement back in my life. Last month Ahn Jae Hyeon and Ahn Hyo Seop went head to head in the Battle of the Ahns. KOCONUTS had to vote for “Love with Flaws” or “A Business Proposal” and “A Business Proposal” won by a landslide with 91.01% of the votes!

Ouch! It didn’t even seem fair to Ahn Jae Hyeon, but in life you win some battles and you lose some battles.

Battle of the Lees

Now it’s a new month, and Lee Dong Wook and Lee Jae Wook will be the ones battling it out. One is a veteran actor who’s aging like fine wine (Is he actually immortal???) and the other is a relatively new actor whose popularity rises with every project.

Lee Dong Wook has been in the business for decades and starred in iconic dramas like “My Girl” (one of my faves), “Scent of a Woman”, and “Goblin”. Most recently he’s starred in romcoms, thrillers, and fantasies like “Touch Your Heart”, “Strangers from Hell”, “Tale of the Nine-Tailed”, and “Bad and Crazy”. Fans are eagerly waiting for him to reprise his role as the mythical kumiho Lee Yeon in Tale of the Nine-Tailed’s sequel “Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938”.

Besides acting in critically acclaimed dramas and fan favorites, Lee Dong Wook is also known for dating former Miss A member and popular actress Suzy for four months in 2018. They had an age gap of thirteen years.

By comparison, Lee Jae Wook is a newcomer. He started acting in 2018 and I first noticed him in the drama “Search:WWW”. People loved his character and shipped him with Lee Da Hee’s character Scarlett. After that, he alternated between main roles and small guest roles in dramas like “Extraordinary You”, “When the Weather Is Fine”, “Do Do Sol Sol La La Sol”, “True Beauty”, and “Move to Heaven”.

It wasn’t until 2022’s “Alchemy of Souls” that he achieved super stardom. The historical fantasy’s ratings were exceptional and it even got a season two.

Now it’s time for Lee Jae Wook to take on veteran Lee Dong Wook in the Battle of the Lees! Vote for your favorite drama below. The poll will close Friday, May 12th at 12AM Eastern Standard Time (EST).

I’m going to make this one very tough as well (insert evil laugh).

Goblin vs The Alchemy of Souls Series

Fantasy isn’t my specialty, so I’m going to let you KOCONUTS battle it out on this one. However, I will admit I’m a big Lee Dong Wook fan. I’ve been watching his dramas since the mid-2000s and think he’s talented and versatile.

Lee Jae Wook is a force to be reckoned with too. He stood out among veteran actors in “Search: WWW” and the amount of fame he’s achieved in a short time is impressive. I can’t wait to see what he does next.
