First things first, I’m sure you’ve all heard that Park Ju Hyun and Kim Young Dae are starring in a historical romantic comedy based on a webtoon, right? If not, you can check out “The Forbidden Marriage‘s” synopsis and see that it’s one of the K-Dramas that you need to add to your December watchlist!

Park Ju Hyun and Kim Young Dae are two emerging stars of this generation that surely deserve all the hype and recognition they are getting. Curious to know why? Let’s discuss their beginnings, their rise to fame, and the shows I particularly enjoy from them

Meet Rising Actress Park Ju Hyun

I think a lot of people may recognize Park Ju Hyun since she starred in the NETFLIX high school thriller series “Extracurricular” wherein she played a girl-crush character, but did you know that she only debuted in 2019 in the action comedy “The Dude in Me“? Yes, it’s been just three years, but Juhyun has already appeared in numerous successful dramas and films!

As soon as I saw Park Ju Hyun, Jung Hae In, and Chae Soo Bin’s “A Piece Of Your Mind,” I knew she was going to be a huge star. There, she gave life to a gentle and composed character with a tragic past.

Park Ju Hyun’s Breakthrough Role

Her breakthrough role happened when she acted as Bae Gyuri in the hit NETFLIX series “Extracurricular!” Everyone really fell in love with her back then. In the action comedy “Zombie Detective,” she co-starred with Choi Jin Hyuk as a former reporter who joins forces with a zombie to investigate murders and learn the truth about the undead. One year is all it took for Ju Hyun to demonstrate her RANGE!

Last year, Ju Hyun then co-starred in a mystery thriller drama alongside Lee Seung Gi. Playing the role of the tough-looking senior in high school, she received acclaim for her performance, AND this 2022 is likely to be one of Park Ju Hyun’s most successful years because she starred in two K-Dramas where she is the lead and also acted alongside Yoo Ah In and Go Kyung Pyo in the NETFLIX action film “Seoul Vibe!”

Favorite Dramas From Ju Hyun

“Love All Play”

“Love All Play” is a K-Drama with a sports romance plot, and I can’t resist those. Here, badminton prodigy Park Tae Yang (played by Park Ju Hyun), who recently quit the team and is making a fresh start, returns. The drama’s mixture of heart-pounding sports paired with romantic interludes is one of its best features + Park Ju Hyun and Chae Jong Hyeop really have great chemistry together!

“Extracurricular”

When “Extracurricular” first aired, there weren’t many high school dramas with themes like this. This isn’t your usual teen story because it depicts the lengths some people will go in order to stay alive. It deals with a variety of serious topics and features interesting characters!

Meet Rising Actor Kim Young Dae

Just like Park Ju Hyun, I’m so happy that Kim Young Dae is getting the love he deserves. The drama “Extra-ordinary You” introduced me to him, and it was in that show that I decided to stan him! Kim Young Dae went on to star as the 2nd lead in “Cheat On Me, If You Can” and was in a supporting role in another drama later that year.

Kim Young Dae’s Breakthrough Role

AND now is Kim Young Dae’s moment, as his supporting role in all three seasons of the hit makjang “The Penthouse” brought him much-deserved fame. There, he acted as Joo Seok Hoon, the son of the main characters of the drama. A lot of people really enjoyed his pairing with Kim Hyun Soo’s (Bae Rona) character!

Despite the busy filming schedule of “The Penthouse,” it didn’t stop Kim Young Dae from appearing in different dramas because he had a cameo appearance in Cha Eun Woo and Moon Ga Young’s “True Beauty” to show his support for the drama director, who previously directed his drama, “Extra-ordinary You”! He also had a special appearance in Ji Jin Hee and Kim Hyun Joo’s action drama!

Since he appeared in a tvN romantic comedy-drama with Lee Sung Kyoung earlier this year, and is now acting in “The Forbidden Marriage,” 2022 is definitely his year. These are his first two dramas where he is the male lead!

Favorite Dramas From Kim Young Dae

Extra-ordinary You

This romantic comedy high-school drama was a breath of fresh air from the usual K-Drama formula. It’s a refreshing change of pace to watch a drama in which minor characters from the webtoon take center stage. Kim Young Dae portrayed Oh Nam Ju, the webtoon’s protagonist.

The Penthouse

On the other hand, “The Penthouse” was thrilling to watch because I had been craving a makjang K-Drama for a long time. When you start watching this drama, you won’t be able to stop thinking about when the next episode will air.

Since their debuts, both Park Ju Hyun and Kim Young Dae have been relentlessly busy with filming dramas, so it’s great to finally see them working together. Everyone, please tune in for “The Forbidden Marriage” to see Park Ju Hyun as the con artist who convinces the Joseon king that she can communicate with the ghost of the deceased queen, and Kim Young Dae as King Lee Heon!
