Unlike previous seasons, which featured all-male contestants, “Iron Squad W” introduces female veterans divided into six teams: 707th Special Mission Group, the Marine Corps, Army Special Warfare Command, Navy, Army, and Special Task Forces.

Lead host Kim Sung Joo, who has been part of every season, pointed out, “The biggest difference between male and female soldiers isn’t gender, but whether their service was mandatory. The women in this show voluntarily became soldiers, and their unique passion and determination shine through. This show will be a great opportunity to break any lingering stereotypes about female soldiers.”

The New Missions and a Stronger Grit

Don’t be mistaken in thinking the missions are easier just because the contestants are female. The production team made it clear, “We haven’t lowered the difficulty level. In fact, we’ve prepared even more extreme, high-intensity challenges.” The missions are designed to test both physical endurance and strategic thinking, highlighting the excitement of team competition.

Choi Young Jae, a former Special Forces master who helped design the missions, emphasized, “This season will showcase the impressive physical strength and combat skills of these female soldiers.”

The intensity has reached new heights. During trench combat, the fierce, determined looks in the eyes of the female soldiers were so intimidating that even Kim Hee Chul and wrestler Jang Eun Shil remarked, “We were scared.”

Writer Kang Sook Kyung added, “The female soldiers don’t talk behind each other’s backs; they confront each other head-on. It’s amazing to see them declare right to each other’s faces that they’ll ‘crush them.’ Get ready for some sharp, intense competition this season.”
