Every year, K-Dramas offer us a lot of memorable couples that make us say, “I want what they have!” Since we’re already in the month of love, let’s make February a lot more special by talking about our favorite K-Drama couples and the ways in which they make our hearts flutter.
One thing I noticed about K-Drama couples is their love for physical touch, such as hugging. I mean we all love the feeling of being hugged, right? With the right individual, you feel a warmth and a sense of completeness that no other experience can match. Let’s discuss the most heartwarming embraces from our favorite Korean dramas!
“Are You Human?” Couple
This is the first couple that came to mind when I remembered “best hugs” because it’s one of the main points of this drama. “Are You Human?” is about a robot that is brought in to protect a chaebol heir who is in a coma.
It’s a one-of-a-kind drama where we got to see how an AI robot learns how to have feelings and emotions as he spends time with the female lead. To those who might be confused, this is a sci-fi drama starring Seo Kang Jun and Gong Seung Yeon that you won’t find anywhere else.
“Come and Hug Me” Couple
Do Jin and Nak Won’s embrace is one of the show’s most heartfelt scenes because the two have been through so much together. The drama follows the story of a man and a woman who were each other’s first loves during childhood and reunite years later as adults.
It might seem like a normal melodrama, but the male lead’s father is a psychopath serial killer, and I don’t want to spoil much anymore, but this is the kind of drama that will touch and stay with you long after you’ve finished watching it.
“365: Repeat The Year” Couple
I know I’m not the only one who gushes over couples from non-romance dramas because we can really feel their chemistry despite the little to no skinship, that’s why I could never forget the time Hyung Ju hugged Ga Hyun and promised her that he’ll always be there for her even if he has to do the impossible.
This is one of my favorite sci-fi dramas because it shows the stories of ten people who get the chance to go back 1 year and find their lives altered and twisted in odd ways.
“Extra-ordinary You” Couple
The warm embraces in this drama brings back memories of the puppy love we felt as teenagers. My heart flutters every time Dan Oh and Haru are always together and how their relationship developed. One of my favorite hugs from these two is when Dan Oh tries her best to defy her fate of being a webtoon character and goes straight to Haru!
This youth drama really has an amazing concept because it tells the story of Eun Dan Oh, a student at a prestigious high school who, one day, discovers that she actually exists in the fictional world of manhwa (comics).
“Young Lady and Gentleman” Couple
Mature kinds of love also hit differently, especially from family K-Dramas! “Young Lady and Gentleman” gave us all the feels since it’s a romance story between a widowed father with 3 kids and their new live-in tutor who opened his heart to love again. As cliché as it sounds, the slow burn is all worth it in the end.
“The Forbidden Marriage” Couple
K-Dramas from the past, like “The Forbidden Marriage,” are just as likely to feature passionate embraces as those from the present day. I’m really a huge fan of this recently finished rom-com drama about a king who put his kingdom under a marriage ban and a scammer who claims she has divine powers and can talk to spirits!
It might seem like a crazy synopsis, but this is a romantic comedy, so you’ll definitely laugh as you watch each episode of this series.
“Youth of May” Couple
Since “Youth of May” left such a profound emotional impression on me, I will always associate it with the best in K-Dramas. This melodrama, which is set in the 1980s, tells the story of a medical student and a nurse who found love against the backdrop of the Gwangju uprising.
These two made us feel everything and showed us that one can find life-long love in just one month. This is truly one of the best romance stories in K-Dramas.
“Alice“
Hugs don’t only pertain to couples, right? It can also be between family members. In “Alice,” a son whose mother had passed away a long time ago hugs a stranger who looks exactly like her. Interesting premise, right? This is a sci-fi drama about the magical time travel of a woman who resembles a dead woman and a man who lost his emotions!
“I Am Not a Robot“
This is one of the dramas where the main couple has amazing chemistry because I was so here for Yoo Seung Ho and Chae Soo Bin in this rom-com! “I Am Not a Robot” isn’t your ordinary drama because it tells the story of a man who has a severe allergy to humans and a woman who has to pretend she is an AI robot in order to make ends meet. You can see how they found comfort in each other’s embrace.
