This month marks four years since global fans experienced the sexy and complex K-drama “Tempted.” Despite the low television ratings, this series hooked fans online, and we still reminisce about the great memories. It was one of the first shows Joy, from Red Velvet, starred in. It solidified Woo Do Hyun as a hot leading man, introduced us to Kim Min Jae’s acting versatility, allowed Mun Ka Young to have fun as a villain, and so much more.
Today, let’s recount some important reasons why “Tempted” is a series everyone needs to keep watching on repeat.
Age is just a number when it comes to love.
The audience not only enjoyed watching the main couple Shi Hyun (Woo Do Hwan) and Tae Hee’s (Joy) complicated love story unfold, but her mom Young Won (Jeon Mi Sun) is involved in her own love triangle that spans decades in the past and becomes reignited in the present. Shi Hyun’s dad Seok Woo (Shin Sung Woo) is engaged to his best friend’s mom, Dr. Myung Mi Ri (Kim Seo Hyung), while his true love is someone else. When we return to the young stars, Si Hyun’s second bestie, Se Joo (Kim Min Jae), is harboring a secret crush of his own on someone he has known for a very long time. The love lines in “Tempted” are endless and thrilling!
The deception is impossible not to watch.
We discover early in the series that Shi Hyun approached Tae Hee with malicious intent. He plans to romance her only to break her heart. As the show progresses, he gets caught up in his own game. No matter how many times you watch “Tempted,” you are desperate for the truth to be revealed, for Shi Hyun to be completely honest about his feelings, and for justice to prevail. Deception can only last so long before everything gets exposed.
It’s a romance K-drama wrapped in a mystery.
Dr. Myung Mi Ri, Tae Hee, and Shi Hyun’s late mom are all wrapped up in a mysterious hit-and-run accident that left the survivors utterly bewildered. In the aftermath, the doctor hides the truth she witnessed, and Shi Hyun is plagued with grief and guilt over this situation he doesn’t have all the facts to. It is so satisfying to see all the pieces of the puzzle finally coming together and the surviving characters heal little by little.
The soundtrack is stunning!
Besides the breathtaking classical tunes throughout the thirty-two episodes, we are overjoyed by the guest singers on the soundtrack, like lead actress, Joy, from Red Velvet. She sang the track that was played repeatedly throughout the beginning of the show titled “Nonsense” (OMG). K-Pop favorites Momoland, Seventeen member Dokyeom (also known as DK), and Yang Da Il also contributed the singles “Hug Me,” “Missed Connections,” and “Side,” respectively.

Woo Do Hwan, Joy and Mun Ka Young were all praised for their outstanding acting. The “2018 MBC Drama Awards” honored Woo Do Hwan with an Excellence Award, Actor in a Monday-Tuesday Drama. Mun Ka Young received the Excellence Award, Actress in a Monday-Tuesday Drama, and the main couple rounded off the trophies with the Frustrator Award.
