Ahn Jae Hyeon is a polarizing Korean actor with unique looks and unique dramas. Like many actors, he started off as a model then slowly transitioned into acting. He blew up in 2013 after starring in “My Love From the Star” with Kim Soo Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun, then snagged his first leading role in “Blood“. It was there that he met his future wife Koo Hye Sun (also known as Jan Di from “Boys Over Flowers”).

The marriage lasted for four years and didn’t end amicably. Some fans took Ahn Jae Hyeon’s side while others took Koo Hye Sun’s. This led to both of them being out of the public eye for a while. That’s why many people are excited for Ahn Jae Hyeon’s new drama “The Real Has Come“! It’s his first drama since 2019, and it’s currently airing on KOCOWA+ every Saturday and Sunday.

Right now, only two episodes are out, so if you want more Ahn Jae Hyeon in your life while you wait, check out his other titles on KOCOWA+. They span across different genres and feature some pretty unique plots:

My Love From the Star

Do Min Joon (Kim Soo Hyun) is an alien who has lived on Earth for the past four hundred years. He looks human, but is incredibly strong, has perfect vision, hearing, and speed. He soon discovers the moment he has been waiting for, when he can go back to his home planet, is only three months away.

But then he meets and falls for Cheon Song Yi (Jun Ji Hyun), a super-famous actress.

“My Love From the Star” is a beloved classic for a reason. The plot is unique, the leads have great chemistry, and Shin Sung Rok is so good at being bad.

Ahn Jae Hyeon doesn’t have a huge role, but he stands out as Cheon Song Yi’s pesky little brother.

You’re All Surrounded

Kim Ji Yong (Lee Seung Gi) witnesses his mother’s murder and becomes a detective to investigate her death. He’s particularly suspicious of his team leader Seo Pan Seok (Cha Seung Won), because he believes Pan Seok is related to the murderer. While navigating his new position in the Violent Crimes Unit, Kim Ji Yong reunites with his old classmate Eo Soo Sun (Go Ara).

I remember this drama being everywhere when it came out. A lot of people loved it and said it was the perfect mix of crime, action, suspense, and even comedy and romance. So, if you want a drama that has it all, including veteran actors like Cha Seung Won, Lee Seung Gi, and Go Ara, then check out “You’re All Surrounded”.

Blood

Park Ji Sang’s (Ahn Jae Hyeon) got a secret. Not only is he a doctor who specializes in surgeries involving the liver, pancreas, gallbladder, and bile ducts, he’s a vampire! But he holds back his thirst for blood because he values human life. He appears cold and aloof, but he’s actually a big softie. Enter Yoo Ri Ta (Koo Hye Sun), a prodigy who got into medical school at seventeen and also the niece of the hospital’s chairman. The two butt heads, but Ji Sang finds himself falling for her while trying to keep everyone safe from Lee Jae Wook (Ji Jin Hee), a hospital director who hides his cruel intentions behind a kind facade.

“Blood” is perfect for those who want a touch of fantasy in their medical dramas. Ahn Jae Hyeon and Koo Hye Sun also have good chemistry…for obvious reasons.

Into the World Again (AKA Reunited Worlds)

Sung Hae Sung’s (Yeo Jin Goo) girlfriend, Jung Jung Won (Jung Chae Yeon/Lee Yeon Hee), wants to throw him a surprise birthday party. She sends him to their high school under the guise of getting her wallet while she sets up. Unfortunately, he witnesses something shocking and gets hit by a car while trying to get help. Twelve years later, he wakes up on the roof of his school. He’s still nineteen, but now Jung Jung Won is thirty-one. Time has moved on without him.

With the help of his friends and Jung Jung Won, Hae Sung tries to uncover the events leading to his death.

If you want to cry and think about the fragility of life, this is a good option. You’ll also get to see Ahn Jae Hyeon in all his second lead glory.

Love with Flaws

What happens when a woman who hates pretty boys and a man who’s all about appearances meet? Hijinks, of course. This drama follows Joo Seo Yeon (Oh Yeon Seo), a feisty Phys Ed teacher who meets Lee Kang Woo (Ahn Jae Hyeon), an attractive, seemingly shallow chaebol. Sparks fly and opposites attract as they try to overcome their reservations and prejudices.

“Love with Flaws” is a true rom-com in every way, and we don’t get many of those anymore. So, if you want a fun drama with a heartwarming message, head on over to KOCOWA+ and press play.

The Real Has Come!

Oh Yeon Doo (Baek Jin Hee) is a famous Korean language instructor online. She loves her lifestyle, but it’s jeopardized when she discovers she’s pregnant. Her boyfriend is not helpful. Meanwhile, Gong Tae Kyung (Ahn Jae Hyeon) is a talented OBGYN who specializes in infertility treatment. He helps people grow their families but doesn’t want one of his own and doesn’t believe in marriage.

A series of events leads to Yeon Doo and Tae Kyung entering a fake contract marriage that’s tested by Yeon Doo’s ex and Tae Kyung’s first love. Will their fake marriage become real or fail?

Like I mentioned above, two episodes are out, and the internet is buzzing. Viewers think the plot is interesting and want to see where it goes. Episodes three and four will air this Saturday and Sunday, so you have a chance to catch up beforehand on KOCOWA+!
