Korea is known for bringing the terror when it comes to horror movies. Not only do they have some of the scariest movies that have gone global in recent history, they also have many incredible horror films that you might not have had a chance to watch before.

Lucky for you (and us!), we now have several on KOCOWA+! But before we get started, let me provide a warning – watch at your own risk!

THE WAILING

Say hello to the scariest movie in the world. Seriously. Even the staunchest of staunch, you’ll-never-scare-me horror aficionados couldn’t get through this movie in one sitting! I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say there is a small town, a strange visitor, and the scariest unexplained deaths you can imagine.

TRAIN TO BUSAN

For even the casualist of horror folks, you have probably heard of “Train to Busan” because it took over the world back in 2016-2017 and had everyone screaming and crying in equal measure. Just like its name suggests, this is about a train trip from Seoul to Busan, but it is set during a zombie apocalypse, which amps up the stakes about a hundredfold!

Train to Busan is scary, and in fact, it is voted the scariest movie of all time on Rotten Tomatoes (though they probably haven’t watched The Wailing!), so if you are in the mood for screams and creepy body horror, check this out.

THE WITCH PART 1: THE SUBVERSION

Now for a scary movie you may not have heard of but you should! Let me introduce you to it. “The Witch” is part science, part action, and all horror as we follow an orphan girl with special abilities and amnesia who is trying to live a normal life. However, twisted scientists are on the hunt for her and they think they just might have found her. Critics on Rotten Tomatoes say this movie is “dark and sublimely satisfying” and that in the end “the film delivers an explosion of crazy, bloody violence.” Eep!

Happy Halloween, KOCONUTS! Have a fun time watching these movies on KOCOWA+!
